Yay or nay?

Yes, it works with some modification of the Spikes Collar. You will have to use a dremel or file on the ST collar to get the rails to fit.
Below are some pictures of my upper I built using a CMMG bolt, Spikes Collar and a GM barrel made for spikes, you probably can see the siliver color of the collar compared to the grey CMMG bolt. link to my posting in the M16 section: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=23&t=314185

Wonder why CMMG doesn't make you for their kit... CMMG does/did make a collar for a dedicated 22LR barreled upper, however the collar will only work with barrels made special for CMMG. The ST Collar or Model 1 Sales collar will work with all the dedicated 22LR barrels that ST or Model 1 Sales carry. |

I have a CMMG conversion kit and want to use it to build a dedicated upper. I've spoken to Model 1 Sales about getting a barrel from them. In order to use my CMMG kit, do I just need to order a M1S collar when I order my barrel? Or, should I go ahead and order an M1S conversion kit with the barrel, relagating the CMMG kit to back-up duty? |

You just need a M1S, Spike's, Kuehl, or Ciener collar(modded Chamber insert). All of these fit the +/- .500" breech of the M1S, Spike's, Kuehl, Ballistic Advantage barrels.
CMMG's dedicated collar is about .460" to fit their barrels and those on DPMS dedicated .22s. All of the bolts are so similar that any of the collars fit with little or no fitting required, mainly to ensure the collar clips onto the rail. |

I lost you CMMG does make dedicated collars?!? Yes CMMG makes Dedicated collars but will ONLY fit their barrels, it will NOT fit spikes, model 1 sales, or ballistics barrels. |

Based on one of the posts above, I ordered a CMMG dedicated collar to try to set-up my DPMS dedicated upper to run CMMG kits.
- The collar will not slide completely over the portion of the barrel that extends into the receiver. - The extractor cut does not line up with the one on the barrel. So, on mine anyway it's not a fit. Just FYI in case anybody is planning to try it. HTH Rich |
