None being produced at this time and may not be in the future due to Hornady saying the 17 HMR is not suited for semi-auto's. Lawyers would have a field day with this. One company was working on a 17 HMR AR upper but the last I saw anything about it was 6 or 8 months ago. There are home-made versions and they work ok but they had to be tuned to the ammo.

Remington has recalled their model 597 in .17 HMR because they had so many problems with them.  To me, it was a pretty simple semi-auto to begin with and they could not get it to run.  I can only imagine the problems developing this in an AR platform to the same compatability standards between manufacturers that we are all use too.

Ruger was supposed to come out with a 10/17 HMR and it never went any further than their catalog. Since people were converting the Ruger 10/22 magnum to 17 HMR and having problems with parts breaking, Ruger decided to discontinue the 10/22 magnum rifle. I know there are a lot of people that have converted 10/22 magnums to 17 HMR and have no trouble with them –– maybe they have a cleaning routine that keeps things working?

Bad caliber for semi auto, AFAIK.

ETA: Yeah, totally beaten to it.

Alexander Arms was working on one over a year ago. I played with the prototype, but I have no idea what the status of it is now.

I've got a 17HMR semi-auto and it works just fine. But I also haven't put it very heavily through the paces yet. It's just a fun little range toy for me.

I actually have a couple of them but don't shoot them a lot since the darn ammo costs a bunch. Even when you find a good price on the web the shipping can add a couple of bucks to each box. Actually the round is more for hunting/varmint shooting and this is where it really shines!

As I see it, the problems with .17HMR and .17HM2 can be summed up with:
blowback action + bottleneck cartridge + dirty chamber = bad day waiting to happen.

.22LR is bad enough when it OOB's.  .17HMR has considerably more pressure.

I have a good friend with a 10/22 mag with a Lilja 17 HMR barrel.  It has many thousands of rounds through it (many thousands of dead gophers!) with zero problems.  It is a tack driver.

Ballistic Advantage offers a setup for the .17HM2, but I don't see one offered for the .17HMR. Do you know more?
