After inquiring at Tiger Valley about what my sister would need for a Carbine class, there was mention of using a .22 conversion kit for portions of the class.  The recommendation was, "if she is looking at purchasing a system the best one is the Remington, with Spikes being next."  I'm not familiar with a conversion or a dedicated upper by Remington, so anybody have info on that one?

Not really here to talk Spikes versus Remington, etc.  They use CMMG drop-ins unless you buy your own stuff - I'm just trying to gather info so my sister can make an informed decision.

Thanks!

Maybe they were referring to Remington's latest "Tacticool" .22 Rifle.

Remington doesn't make a conversion drop-in kit as far as I know. Go for a Spike's kit.

The Remington is a 22, built using their model 597 to look like an assault rifle.
It's another attempt to take some of the market the way Ruger did with the 10/22.

It's like a Hardly Davidson.......

Spike's will be the way to go in this case.

If a .22 conversion kit for an AR-15 is desired, I would give serious consideration to the CMMG stainless steel model.

I do not have personal experience with the CMMG stainless steel kit but I have a friend who bought one at my suggestion and he absolutely loves it.  Plus, at the time anyway, it was lower cost (from CDNN) than the Spike's kit.

I have no affiliation with any of the named companies.

Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc.
