I would like to build a Dedicated 22LR upper.
However I would like to use a CMMG bolt, does anyone know where i can pick one up with a the collar? Also which Barrels will work with the CMMG bolts? |

I use a CMMG bolt with a Spikes chamber adapter...don't tell anyone, its not suppose to work :-) It did require a very slight, easy to do, mod to the Spikes part. Call Spikes, get their barrel and adapter and then mod it to fit your CMMG bolt. I think other here have done the same thing. |

Model 1 Sales, Spike's, Ballistic Advantage and Kuehl Precision barrels all work FINE with each others dedicated bolts and with the dedicated mod of the Ciener.
With a collar from Ciener, KPF, M1S, or Spike's, a CMMG bolt will work, too. The only caveat is that Spike's collar is a little sloppy on the other rails, which aren't plated. I have used my Spikesbolt and my Ciener/M1S in both my M1S and my ST-22 uppers. CMMG briefly made a dedicated upper with a dedicated collar. Beware! This collar ONLY WORKS WITH CMMG DEDICATED BARRELS OR DPMS DEDICATED BARRELS. So, yo use your CMMG bolt, get a collar fron anybody besides CMMG and you're good to go. |

If you have not picked up the the YHM FF consider the mid or rifle length rails. They will cover up where the gas block would go. And down the line if you want to shoot irons there are clamp on sights that can go in the top rail. |

I think after reading this I have it figured out, but just to be sure.... I have a CMMG conversion bolt I bought some time back, like using it but decided I need a dedicated upper. I also happen to have a new DSA upper I can use, so can I just buy a Spikes barrel and collar, install on my upper and then use my CMMG conversion bolt? From what I have read here it appears so, but just want to be sure! Thanks.

My neighbor ended up with my $265 DSA upper on his rifle...and I ended up with a Tac Sol dedicated upper. However....I do have a CMMG bolt and rails mounted to a Spikes chamber adapter and it works just fine with a small bit of "adjustment". (>005" of metal removal. Your set up will work and others are doing it. |
