Call Tactical Solutions and try to talk with Lon. 1 (866) 333-9901. They are in Idaho.
Explain what you have tried, seen and done. If he can't directly help you, he can find someone who isn't at Shot Show to help figure it out... BDM only resells the uppers. Kevin is at Shot Show. Good Luck and let me know the results of your call. You can drop my screen name if you think it will help. I talked to Lon yesterday about Their LT Upper..... SpecOps-13 |

Will the pin go in when it fully open or closed?
Mine would rub against the lower in the half position when opening and closing but a few swipes with a file on the rear square edge cured that. It was more of an annoyance than anything and I wondered why they didn't break that edge in the first place. Other than that it fit's, shoots perfect. |

I had the same problem. It would bind when I pushed out the rear pin and pivoted it forward on the RRA lower I was going to use. It did the same on two different Denny's lowers. I put it on my Eagle Arms/Armalite lower and it fit perfect. I believe the machining was different on the front pin area which allowed the oversized TacSol front pin area to fit.
Since it was to be a dedicated rifle, I found a solution to use the Eagle Arms/Armalite lower rather than return the upper. |

What a good guy. He said their uppers are made by a reputable company and made mil spec. Because RRA's tolerances are so tight, that's what's causing my problem. He recommended just filing down the outer edge so it wouldn't rub. This is most definitely the route I will be taking. After I file down this area, what should I use to protect the metal? Should I use a cold blue product such as Oxpho-Blue? Thanks again guys; you all are a big help. Spencer |

Birchwood Casey makes a paint pen in Flat Black, avaliable in many gun stores. They also make
a liquid called Aluma Black that reacts differently on various alloys. I'd use the paint pen myself. Bluing won't work on aluminum. I think I suggested filing down the rubbing surface of the upper to someone a while back. Lon is great to talk to isn't he. He's the Man, he said what I would have said too.....Understanding the big picture S-13 |

Fully closed, I have to use a nylon/brass hammer. Quoted:
I looked at mine and it is centered perfectly and fits my spikes lower just fine. I wonder if they ran a bad batch of these because I just tried a RRA lower I have and it fit perfectly also. That's what I'm wondering. Either way, I just filed down the pivot area and it clears. |
