I haven't seen anybody talk about the 22 magnum for a while.
Is there any interest in it any more?

N/M, just realized it was an AR sub-forum.

Have there been any .22Mag uppers that worked well?

Not produced commercially. One offs. Mags are a problem. Blown cases are a problem with WMR autos.

imo, the main reason for a rimfire ar is to shoot on the cheap, large quantities of ammo at a single sitting. so add the fact that 22mag ammo is expensive, hard to get it in large quantities, no bulk packs. no mags available for high capacity development. not enough people willing to shell out a grand for a 22mag upper.and adding existing semi auto issues with blown cases, not hard to start to see why we dont have 22mag ar`s. if you needed more oomph for hunting theres always the 223 option.

Ever wonder why Ruger dropped their 10/22 Mag rifle? Do a bit of a search and see how many .22 Mag semi-autos are made. Not many!

Reasons have been given. Cost, reliability, safety. Its like the .17 HMR, its a great round for a bolt gun. I can reload .223 for what .17 ammo costs.

Alas in the UK semi-auto centrefire's are effectively illegal (except on a section 5 licence, which is practically unobtainable), so I was really hoping someone had a more positive answer.

My search will continue....

There was another fellow from the UK that was looking into a semi-auto 22 magnum. I can't remember his name but he ran into the same problem –– nothing available. I have two custom AR's in 22 magnum and they are a hoot to shoot –– good little rifle for small game. I've never heard of the 22 magnum busting rims like the 17HMR. Too bad one of the good gun plumbers over in England can't come up with a working version of the 22 magnum AR –– that new 30 grain V-Max 22 magnum ammo shoots like a dream. I know the 22lr is OK in semi-autos over in UK but you might want to check about the 22 magnum.

I'd like to hear more about your ARs in .22 mag.  Where did you get them?  I want one!!!

Oh , they're cool, are AR-fan's WMRs.

Actually, I have to be careful what I fed my ZKM-611, Or split, cracked, or blown cases an occur.
Remington's the safest load.

Perhaps AR-fan will link the thread with his pictures.

Sorry to say I had to make them since nobody wants to do semi-auto 22 magnums commercially anymore. I guess the cost of ammo is the main reason and that people were converting the semi's to 17HMR and they were blowing up a bit. Here's a link to the 22 magnum thread. 22 magnum AR

The Bolt is steel and I use a modified buffer that restricts how far back the bolt can go plus I use a shortened carbine spring. I have small capacity mags and higher capacity mags but the small capacity mags are my favorite (7 rounds) because it makes me think about conserving my ammo and making good shots. The link shown has some pictures missing but shows some of the mags and also a modular mag that can be put together real easy. There is also a 22 magnum conversion unit but in went over like a lead balloon for me due to the gas leak. Second 22 magnum AR link

There is another fellow that goes by rjay that also made a 22 magnum upper and has had good luck shooting in some matches with it. I was hoping I'd see a thread from him one day saying he got the magazine thing working but I guess he is busy with other projects.
