i am working on a sten mag modification to work with 7.62x25 ammo.  im looking at the different types to see what would be the easiest mod.

ive noticed so far 3 different types of magazines.  the easiest for me seems to be the style with the spot welded back plate.  unfortunately out of the 40 sten mags i have, only 5 of them are that style.  if anyone is willing to straight trade that style for either of the other two please let me know.

ive got one apart so far and will look for some suitable replacement material.

any suggestion from people that have tried would be greatly appreciated.

If you are working on a DI/gas operated tok you will have trouble with the bolt lugs & the mag. If you are running the 9mm bolt & doing a blowback you are all set.
Any reason you dont want to use the pps43 or 41?

i will be using a 9mm bolt and blowback system.

i was just considering a pps43 mag block, but they are expensive and not readily available.  also the feed issues.

43 mags are 10bucks each, plus 125 for the adapter, plus a certain percent of the mags might not work at all.

i have $2 mags and not a whole lot of extra work, and i conveniently work at a weld/polishing/fabrication shop

when all is said and done, as long as i get reliable mags, i will be happy.
