Well I know all of the following posts will be get a Dedicated uppper.  I only have 1 ar right now and dont plan on building a dedicated 22 for the cost factor.  I have wanted the m&p or Colt version for a lil while now vs building a whole new gun.  I was sitting in the hotel here watching it rain and think I have my wife wanting as AR of somekind.  So what are your reccomendations?  She kind of wants a "real" AR but hasnt had much time with my DPMS and didnt seem to like it.  So a lighter smaller caliber would be fun and easier to shoot.  Aside from all that 22s are still relativly cheap to shoot haha.  So Im now looking for pink are furniture too, it has to match her pink 24/7 compact lol.

Sounds like you're already convinced on the S&W, M&P-22. It'll be light weight and basically the same controls,
just in case she has to grab yours someday for defense. Pink?????????????????? OoooKkkk

Good Luck,

Go for the S&W M&P 15-22.  Next best thing to a dedicated upper, IMHO.I had a Colt M4 OPS. Let me emphasize HAD on the Colt.

Where to buy is next question??  Im pretty sure after my research here and on the interwebs I think the M&P is higher on the list.  It seems to be a good fit for what I'm looking for and think my wife will enjoy it.

S&W hands down. I got mine at the funshow a month or so back for 429.00,  a pretty good price. I saw at the local gunshop they just got one and it was priced at 549.00.

I think Cabela's had 'em for 440-450 awhile back.

Hmm, I thought MSRP on these 15-22s was only $499. Is the gun shop above known for high prices on their guns?

The MSRP was supposed to be 429.00

Naaaah, MSRP was supposed to be $499, but nobody seems to be asking that.  $450 should be doable, and some here have done better than that.
As regards the pink furniture, ignoring the 'it's just plain wrong' factor, all the furniture can be replaced with standard AR stuff save for the forend.
Check the other threads here, but magazines are available, and most owners claim the darn guns just work, even on bulkpack ('cept %$#@%% Remmy).

Never have and never will buy reminton bulk packs lol. The wife and I actually went to TN this weekend and stopped in wallyworld for stuff and they had Federal bulk. I haven't found those in Ohio for months. They even had the auto match 350 packs in stock. Well I'm starting my search end of the week unless one pops up sooner for her birthday present.

Sadly, yes.

1 dealer has a few at 449 and another will have them middle of week at 449. Still searching for a cheaper place but not looking promising.

No love for the Colt M4 there. I sold the one I had at a significant (to me) loss. But I did get rid of it before it had any real issues.

Sad thing is the same gun shop mentioned above wants 600.00 for the Colt.

I've see the Colt M4 for sale in a couple of area gun shops for over $700. This was a couple of months ago.

Congrats. You could talk to Andrew up there at Olde English and get your barrel threaded for a flash suppressor. They did mine for me.

How much did that run you?

Do you have a pic of it threaded?  I am thinking about getting mine done also.  How much did it cost you?  A local smith here told me $45 for a thread and $65 for a lathe thread for a suppressor.
