Was out at the range today, running my 22LR upper wet, after about 150 rounds the CLP flashed.

It was over 90 degrees out.  First time I've had that happen.

You mean the cleaner and lube?    That is the stuff we used like crazy in the military in M-16's.   I've near seen it happen.

Fixed.
Be Well.
eta:  I always end up with CLP on my shooting glasses when it's hot out.

That's a new one.
Never tried to burn CLP...have to test it out sometime just for kicks.

How do you know it wasn't an OOB - did you find the case from the round that caused the flash?

That's odd considering I have used CLP to coat the baffles of my .22 Suppressor and all I get is a little smoke.

I really doubt this happened.  It's never happened to me and I run CLP on all my AR's except my 22 actually.  And, I just set the torch to thicker non-aerosol CLP and the aerosol CLP and they won't take a flame....nothing.

I guess the only difference would be heat + pressure as opposed to the heat I just introduced.  But many folks run their 5.56 ar's sopping wet with clp to complete dryness (under more pressure and heat) without a flash.

You had an out of battery or some unburnt powder back in the receiver or something...

Looked at all the expended 22's and no OOB.

Could have been some powder fouling flashing, but I never find that much unburnt powder from the 22's when I shoot.
Never had CLP do that before, I have had regular gun oil flash on numerous occasions on the 223, that's why I don't use it anymore for that one.

If a little CLP would flash in your 22lr upper, God knows what it would do after a mag dump or two in my DPMS LR-308 that is sopping in the stuff.

What kind of upper are you running?  Does it need to be wet anyway?
