Lots of posts about tuning a dedicated .22 setup. I would like to know what is commonly accepted as the best hammer to use with a dedicated .22 setup and what weight springs will yield the best results?
They say not to use a knotched trigger but I am having trouble finding a non-knotched hammer. RRA, Brownells, Bravo Co dont list or show a non-knotched hammer, unless I am looking in the wrong places. I get a few FTF now and then that I will blame on ammo a little bit, hey its a .22, but I need to polish the feed ramp and polish the area around the chamber a tiny bit as there is a spot that has a sharp edge that is probably the culprit. The hammer and spring combo is just added insurance for increase reliability. I am using a standard DPMS GI trigger, hammer and springs. Any thoughts |

You need a hammer that looks like the AR-15 (Early) - .155
. No notch at the top hammer . |

I'm running a DPMS LPK in a Spike's lower with a Spike's ST-22 upper. All FCG parts are stock and were brand new.
No problems with 2 out of 3 types of ammo I've tried so far. Federal Red Bulk Pack and Federal Automatch ran fine, both are high velocity. Standard velocity Aguila Super Extra was weak and didn't reliably cycle the action. |

Any thoughts If you already have an actual DPMS FCG, then you should have a non-notched hammer. If your hammer has a notch, then it is not a DPMS hammer. You should be able to get a standard DPMS hammer from brownells or midway. I say should, because I know they sell them, but don't know if they are actually in stock right now. |

Mine is a standard AR15 trigger. The third one in the diagram. It is not a DPMS LPK. I forgot that this lower was built using a J&T LPK. Looks like I just need to look harder at the brownells website. Thanks |
