| i'm thinking about putting a can on my spike 22 upper. it's a 16" upper, don't feel like paying anoher tax stamp for a sbr. will the gun be quieter with the longer barrel and how does the gun like sub sonic ammo? |
| I just picked up my Tac65 on Friday and since then have shot 550 rounds of Federal Bulk Pack through my Spike's 5.5" upper. This thing ROCKS. It's just as quiet with the Fed Bulk Pack is it is with the subsonics I tried. Also, absolutely no failures with the Bulk Pack in my Spike's upper. With the Remington subsonics, I would have two-three FTEs with every mag. But, can't say enough good about the Spike's upper with the bulk pack |

More details on the rubber buffer you use to dampen the bolt noise, please? Also, more details on barrel length in the video.... 5.5"? Nothing special.....just picked up a few flat rubber washers from the local hardware store. I find the ones that have a hole in em that the recoli rod just fits through then trim the rest so that it fits in the receiver. Works like a charm at elimiinating that metal on metal noise and holds up for about 750rds or so. |

Go the SBR route...Their freaking sweet with short barrels and you don't have to worry about usingsubsonic loads. As for your question, it depends on the suppressor. The Spectre I havesounds better on short barrels, like my spikes and pistols than it doesmy longer barreled ARs. Some cans like long barrels while others likeshort. Mine does not stay subsonic with bulk pack. I guess it depends on your elevation. My longer barrelled 11.5 is quieter with my Tac65 than the 5.5". |

The SWR Spectre absolutely shows a preference for shorter barrels. Don't get me wrong it sounds great on a 16" bolt gun, but it really shines when you put it on the end of a barrel that is around 5". ETA: Redtazdog that's a great idea with the grommet, now if you could just figure out how to silence the bolt hitting the chamber face... |

I have a 10.5" spikes upper with an AAC pilot. with fed bulk packs it does NOT stay subsonic on any day here in Ga. even when it was like 40deg out. if I want it that quiet I will put subsonics in it. but I bought the .22 upper to be cheap. with Fed bulk pack and the pilot it's still VERY hearing safe.
+1 on the SBR route! |
