Not sure this is the place to ask, but I will any way.
Anyone have pics of the Spike's CAR1, ET1 or SD1 fake can or similar mounted on their AR? |
| The only fake can I have is for my Spike's Tactical ST-22 .22LR AR. It's only a .22 rifle and there wouldn't really be any benefits of installing a flash hider or compensator. Some people also use fake cans to hide the skinny long barrels of certain carbines such as an HK94/GSG-5 because they just look off without it. |

I guess it just seems airsoftie to me.....hell if its just for looks....why even have a real gun? Why even buy quality parts?? Hell you can get a fake knights rail, a fake acog, hell a fake grenade launcher even....why stop at just the silencer? ![]() ^ This. I agree 100%. I'd never buy one. That said.... Quoted:
Just because I can and it's not your money I'm spending on the "airsoftie". Besides, fake cans are like fake boobs, I like looking and playing with them. I can't argue with that logic either. |

I can't argue with that logic either. Well, some had bad experience with fake cans before, probably saw and felt botched up implants? How can you hate quality made fake cans? I'm talking about the silicone ones implanted under the muscle with the insertion site by the belly button. Now those look and feel natural. As for me, I like 'em both ways: fake ones that look real and real ones that look fake |

Had a Spikes SD on my 9mm pistol. I had shot the gun before so I knew how accurate it was when I put the fake one on. Helped the flame get out from under the front site but the accuracy was not good. Shots were all over the place with everything I fed her. Took the can off and accuracy returned. I sold the can and am getting a real one soon.
I would see about trying one first to see if it has the same effect the one did on my gun. Your mileage may vary. I will say though, the quality of Spike's fake can was very nice and it threaded on and off with ZERO issues. |

And fake cans, like fake boobs, do nothing to enhance the original purpose of your AR15. But if you like the looks of them, and you have the money to spend, go ahead and buy one. It really shouldn't matter what other people think. |

Here's the one that fits over the barrel.

I just had a friend drill some Aluminum Barstock that was cut to lengths so I can make some "Fake Cans"in a variety on my Hobby Lathe. There's no way that the Slip Overs cause accuracy to drop other than a slight period of extra recovery over a good Comp.. On the other hand, I've tried 30 or more Comps, Flash Hiders and home made Widgets in my lifetime. Some of them have caused drops in Accuracy and others always blew dirt in your face when prone. This is all about the Fun part of AR's. When people take the hobby part of AR's too seriously it's either their job or it's just plain work. Would I ever use a Fake Can on a Weapon I counted on for my Life? Probably Not. But then I probably wouldn't use a Real Can either. |
