I have a USGI M261 conversion kit that I would like to use with a dedicated barrel.
Does anyone have any experience with, or know anyone who has converted a M261 kit for use with a dedicated barrel.? Was the original chamber adapter modified for use ... or did it require the fabrication of a new adapter collar? .... Does anyone make a commercial collar for this conversion ?? Any help would be greatly appreaciated ... Thanks !! |

Compass Lake Engineering (http://www.compasslake.com/22uppers.htm) builds dedicated uppers based on the m261 kit. The m261 kit's 'barrel' is removed and replaced with a tab (the only mod to the kit and easily reversible). They chamber a 22 barrel blank for .22lr, with an extraction grove cut and a slot for the above mentioned tab. Very accurate kit. |

You'll need to register and log in on the National match Forum, but it's well worth it. Many photos. |

Quoted: Yikes! Compass Lake is really proud of their stuff. I would like to see them offer just the barrel, but that's not shown on their site. And edlmann, the article you linked to is on a forum that requires you to be logged in to view it. Their complete uppers are targeted for match competitors, not plinkers. That said, call CLE, you can definitely get just the barrel and adapter, cut and profiled to your liking for a reasonable price. They have done two for me and are very nice people. |
