I've been reading up, but might still be missing something.  Just looking for a sanity check, and some positive peer pressure

Starting with a stripped CavArms lower, does this sound like everything?

1)  complete upper from one of our site sponsors
2)  mags from same
3)  LPK (sigh...)
4)  assemble lower with usual Cav-specific details
4.1)  make leftover pistol grip into cool bottle opener
5)  no need for buffer and spring
6) go to range with a bunch of different ammo to find what it likes best
7)  no need to mess with hammer and trigger springs unless tuning the upper requires it
8)  post pics

Thanks

Sounds like you have everything covered. I need some pics of 4.1.

I hate  to be the bearer of bad news... BUT you missed a very important step which could cause massive FAILURE..

BUY AMMO - If you can find it

Also you need to decide which conversion you are going to get, which may hinge on the upper you buy..

If you buy the Ciener/CMMG be prepared to polish it and the chamber area to get the most reliability out of it..

good luck

My Cav Arms works well. I have 3 built.

Chip McCormick trigger requires a slight trim to square up the mortise in the lower. See comment on timney below.

Timney seems to work, drops right in.  REQUIRES ONE NORMAL LENGTH AND ONE OVERLENGTH C-CLIP TRIGGER PIN( available from Cav Arms). DO NOT RUN THE SETSCREWS INTO THE FLOOR OF THE TRIGGER MORTISE- THE RECEIVER IS, AFTER ALL, PLASTIC.

DPMS LPK trigger WORKS, but crunchy and heavy.

I have run Kuehl MKI, M1S 16" CAR, and DPMS M-4 .22s on these lowers without problems.

One other pearl: there's a slight dimensional problem with my CAV lowers' there's a slight gap between the rear of the upper and the top front of the CAV lower, maybe .030".

The "receiver plate" of the BCG bears against the top or the "ring" part of the lower, above the buffer tube.

This gap is enough to cause light hits and FTFs. A bit of shimming is needed. One of these days I'll wax up the upper and put a bead of JB Weld on the front surface of the "ring".

LOL Are you serious?! No need for a buffer tube?! Now that you say that it makes sense. I could have cut some serious weight off my rifle a long time ago!

BTW, I read some where that the fake can weighed a lot and so some one took his off. I took mine off this morning and it doesnt weigh that much at all. I put that sucker back on.
