I know I've seen the info here before - can anyone give me a link? I am wanting to run UZI mags - will the C-Products magwell block work? I'm not new to ARs but am to 9mm. I am planning a DOE 633 build. I'm pretty firm on it - just bought a SIG P225 (P6) and so now will have 9mm in the stable - couldn't justify ANOTHER caliber until now. Somehow I've ended up with firearms using 5.56, 7.62x39, 7.62x54, 7.62x25, 8mm Mauser, .300 Savage, .303 British and now 9mm. (I don't count .22 LR ) I may eventually build up the Suomi kit as a semi, so I obviously am going to need a LOT more 9mm...

Any "Colt-style" magazine block will work with modified Uzi magazines.  Colt's original design IS a modified Uzi magazine!  While the basic design of CProducts' new magazine block is correct, they don't seem to have "gotten it right;" the bulk of it is made of plastic and LOTS of people have reported problems with it.  On the other hand, RRA's block, made of metal, is a great choice for this type of carbine.

The Uzi magazine modification involves milling a slot for the AR's magazine catch in the appropriate place.  While you "could" do this with a Dremmel and determination, Uzi magazines are made of some pretty hard steel.  I'd have them modified by a pro with a mill-M60 Joe is such a pro.

I've had great success with CProducts magazines, and Metalform, the original supplier of Colt "factory" 9mm magazines also sells magazines made for the 9mm carbine.

As GH said, pretty much any Colt-style block will run Uzi mags as long as they are modded properly and are good quality (IMI or MecGar preferably).  You will also be able to run Colt style mags with a Colt style block.

If you want to run the Uzi mags sans mods, then VM Hytech block is the way to go, but ti will not work with Colt style mags.

There are some other factors involved in the decision of which mag/block to run - like price, compatibility with other guns, last round bolt hold open, etc..., so it may help to read up and figure out what's most important to you.

Thanks for the info guys! One more question - the Colt block would also be my choice as it looks correct for the DOE build I want to do, but drilling the roll pin holes seems problematic - is there a jig or something to position them properly if I go with the Colt block? I'll look intit he Vm Hytech block too, Thanks - Morg

Best bet is M60Joe for pinning.

I've been running a VM Hytec block for a few years now (5?) with absolutely no problems - it's 100%.

Okay -I'm committed now - have a 635 upper on the way. So, my next question is, will either ribbed or unribbed Uzi mags work in the Colt Mag well adapter? I plan on having M60joe pin it, and possibly modify the mags / ramp the bolt. (I'm looking into my options.)

I found an interesting British VN MACVSOG reeanactment group and they talk about them using Uzis, which surprised me, although MACVSOG used a lot of strange stuff, including chopped Chicom RPDs, but what was interesting was that they said they used Chicom AK chest carriers to carry the Uzi mags. Should work just fine for the 635 build, although if I show up wearing it at the range they might not let me in, LOL. Any other recommendations for carrying mags?
