Bought 8 of the smoke colored BDM mags many moons ago. Just got a TacSol upper and dug out the mags for a trip to the range. All 8 have cracks around the threaded brass inserts.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, but there is a simple solution.

Are you using any Mil-Tec or similar CLP cleaner? (besides breakfree CLP)

I was using MilTec and had spiderwebbing cracks frequently and when I swapped to using BFCLP it stopped completely.

I did a short test with different cleaners and found that BF CLP is safe, while many others are NOT safe to use on that plastic.

Even if you think you ARE NOT getting any on the mag, you may be getting residue from firing after cleaning with those products.

I'm a huge supporter of BDM mags, and he's always 100% honored his word, warranty and reputation no matter the cost.

(he's a great guy)

These are BRAND NEW mags. Been in a plastic box on the shelf for 10 or 12 months. No way they came in contact with any cleaners, oils or chemicals.

I just checked my 4 unused mags.  Each of the mags has identical "cracks" at each of the brass inserts.  Take a look at all your mags.  It would be impossible for all mags to have identical cracks in the exact same place.  I believe the "cracks" on mine are most likely a defect from the moulding process and are not really cracks at all.  They are just a surface defect that looks like a crack, more like a scratch that does nothing structurally.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree with badazzar15, Shoot Em, Then if they fail which may take a very long time,
BDM is Very Customer Oriented and has replaced any I've had fail. 4 have fractured
at the feed lip after 9-10 thousand rounds each. That's a lot of Shooting.
Again, BDM Customer Service is Fantastic.
