Hey all,
I was wondering what the standard thread pitches are for .40 and .45 ACP barrels and muzzle devices. I know 9mm is usually 1/2" X 28, and have seen .578" X 28 for the .40 and .45. I want to get muzzle devices (Vortex Flash hiders) that can be used on .40 and .45 barrels. Which pitch would be best (most common/universal)? Also, does anyone even MAKE Vortex or similar FH for these calibers/pitches? Thanks! D-R |

Yeah, 9mm for carbines is typically 1/2" X 36 to keep you from using 5.56 barrel devices (for safety). I feel that if you use electropencil on the back of the muzzle device, this can be avoided. So far, NO DICE on finding .40 or .45 ACP muzzle devices. What are you guys using on your AR45 barrels? Contacted Ron at SEI, and he does not really make a specific Vortex for .40 or .45, although he does have a .625" X 24 that would fit. So far, the standard thread pitch I have found is .578" X 28 for the .45 and .40. Any flash hiders out there? Sound off if you have experience...Thanks!

Also Oly Arms makes the 45 uppers with a FH on it, so maybe they can help you get the parts. |
