I have a couple of 22 lr guns and i just ordered a conversion kit for my AR. I found that CCI Stinger seems to be the best, well at least personal experience. But its pretty expensive stuff. Can someone please tell me what some good ammo is.

The answer is.....  it depends on the particular gun.  It seems as though 22 lr guns, especially semiautos, can be finicky about what you feed them, sometimes.  I have a TacSol M4 upper that will shoot virtually anything I've tried, so far.  I would recommend buying the more common rounds - Fed bulk, Rem bulk, Win 333 bulk - and see which works best for your situation.  If none of those work out, then you have to move up the food chain to the CCI Minimags, Stingers, and such.  Good luck, have fun, and shoot safe.

YMMV, however, I have found that Federal Champion HV is extremely accurate and reliable in my Spike's ST-22 upper.  It can be had at Wal-Mart for about $17/500.

The Champion line is, AFAIK, the QC rejects from the Gold Medal production line.

The good (read more $$$) Remington is pretty good.

The cheap Remington is generally crap.

Have had good reports about the Federal bulk pack at Wal*Mart.

FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.

You really need to buy a few brands and try them.  I have a Model 1 dedicated upper which uses the Ceiner bolt.    My first session, I loaded 6 BDM mags with Remington Golden Bullets (bulk ammo) and it wouldn't feed them at all.  I gave up after two mags, maybe 40 failures to feed in 50 rounds.  Longest run was 3 rounds fired.

However, both Federal Champion (bulk pack) and CCI Mini-Mags feed flawlessly in the same rifle.  The wife and I shot 10 mags of Federal bulk pack today without a single failure to feed.

When you say "Federal Champion HV", is this different from the bulk pack of Federal Champion I just picked up at Bi-mart today?  I don't see "HV" anywhere on the box, on the side where it's listing the "features" of the rounds, it says:

Champion
22 Long Rifle
* High Velocity
* 36 Grain
* Copper Plated
* Hollow Point
* 525 Rounds
* Value Pack

Is this the HV ammo you speak of?  Just trying to make sure I've got the right stuff.  This is what I have my son run through his 10/22.  I just ordered a Spike's conversion kit for my AR, hoping the same stuff feeds well in my AR.  Bought this pack for $16 today... if that's the price of 500 rounds, my rifle's going to be getting really dirty a lot more often...

I think thats why all the federal bulk ammo i've been getting lately sucks.
It doesn't say champion on it anymore. I thought they had just changed the packedge a little but it must be diffrent stuff. This says 22 value pack where the champion used to be.  The stuff i used to buy worked great in everything this stuff has such a deviation round to round you can hear it and it won't cycle the action on some of my 22's. A lot of rounds that won't fire also.

My DPMS needed a break in period when about all it would shoot was Mini-mags.  One I got it worn in I've had great luck with Blazer .22 (yeah, I know, but it was what I could buy that day) and have purchased some Federal bulk to try now.

Federal Champion runs real good in my Spikes. But it's not copper washed. It's in the blue box.

The bulk pack I'm refering to is Load number 745.  I believe it's a current load, I've bought them recently at Cabela's and mail order through Nachtez.  These are in a blue box called 525 round Value Pack.  It's a 36 grain copper plated  hollow point.  1280 fps at muzzle.  These are $19.99 at Cabelas and $16.99 through Natchez on sale.  This load run seamlessly  through my Model 1 upper.

Thanks i had found it at natchez sunday after reading your earlyier post and finding where someone posted a picture of the box in another thread. My order should get here tomorow.

The federal available around my ao is load 750 it comes in a 550rnd box and doesn't say champion anyplace on it just value pack where your box says champion.......large amount of dud rnds and you can actually here the diffrence in rnds some of them are so underpowered they won't cycle any 22 auto.

Ive run a bunch of diff brands thru all my RFs and those which exhibit least problems, are most consistent and always have the power to cycle the action (in semis at least) are Win Powerpoints and CCI Minimags. Ive just about quit buying other brands unless Im sure Id run them thru my bolt guns.
