I don't like the sound of my car engine. Can I make the sound go away and still drive it?

It's the way it is, embrace the TWANG!!!

If you want to get rid of the twang get a hydraulic buffer I've seen them for sale in the EE from time to time. I think there made by Buffer Technologies I know you can get them at Midwayusa.com.

light coat of breakfree on in side of buffer tube and coat spring it will knock out 50 % of the noise

I used the plastic/rubber dip stuff for tool handles found at auto parts and hardware
stores.
Spread some on a cardboad box and roll the spring through it
then let it dry even.
Didnt efect function and has lasted over 3000 rounds in my AR 9mm
and made it Quieter when the can is used.
I have only been testing with the 9mm but may have to
do the spring in my Integeral suppressed AR45 next.
.
What okguy91 said works too but even better on the coated spring.

I have heard that the MGI 2x spring is much quieter. I believe it is a flatwire CS spring. I have not checked it out first hand.

How would that fix it ?
You still have to use a spring.

If you have an AR with a full-length buffer, you could try one of these:

AC4 Pneumatic Recoil Buffer

The unit replaces both the buffer AND recoil spring. Only works in rifle length buffers...

A light coating of Lubriplate will quiet it down considerable.

My Noveske lowers arrived with the buffer and springs heavily slathered in lathe grease.  They functioned perfectly and had virtually no twang at all.

How exactly would this hurt someone? Yes even if totally full the bolt won't move but that isn't going to hurt anything or anyone

Try some grease, but very lite.  This will quite it some, but after you shoot it a while and get used to the spring noise, you will ask yourself why you smeared grease on it.

My advice, shoot more & just get used to it.  It will talk to you and tell you when the mag is empty even.

Superior Shooting (David Tubbs) flat wire springs are significantly quieter than the round wire mil spec springs.

A bit of a pain getting them past the buffer retainer pin since the flay catches the tip o the plunger. I just use  micro screw driver to hold the pin down.

Brownells usually has them in stock.
