Can a Colt 6450 safely shoot 9mm +p+?
Here is my set up: Stock 6450 Lower RRA Upper w/ 5" TROS Tri-Lug barrel Factory 6450 bolt |

better question. can a RRA upper shoot 9mm I should hope so since it's a RRA 9mm upper. Quoted:
A very heavy buffer is necessary. I use the Rate Reducing Buffer from MGI in mine. You might also look at a stronger spring. Someone is working on a gas version which would solve a lot of problems. How about 9mm + P? |

How about 9mm + P? It will shoot until your bolt stop breaks. Ask me how I know. Don't do it without a heavy buffer built by Spike. Pat |

I use all heavy handloads in my Colt 9mm and I use a very heavy buffer and an extra heavy chrome silicon spring. We all know that regardless of the gun the higher pressure higher stress stuff is going to cause shorter service life and more wear faster regardless of the Buffer and Spring used, as opposed to using the milder SAAMI standard stuff.
And we all know that goes for any combination of gun and ammo. |

Question...
If I use the ST-9BS buffer from from spikes will this keep NATO pressure Winchester 9mm from breaking my bolt catch? I am trying to decide whether or not to get the heavier buffer from spikes of just the spacer. Mostly I am going to shoot Winchester white box 115 or 124 grain standard pressure ammo in it. But I would like to be able to shoot +P ammo as well. I am afraid that if I get the heavier buffer it will decrease reliability with the lighter standard pressure loads. Which option would be the best if I want to shoot both types of ammo? I'm getting a Colt 6450 |

I guess your best option would be to have both weights if you plan on firing different powers.
Yes, a super heavy buffer will affect the cycling of regular ammo. Yes, your gun will beat itself more with a light buffer. Your other option is go gas. Even then, you can overgas with high powered ammo. |

I guess I just won't shoot the +P+ eta: Thanks for the response |
