Anyone ever heard of one???
Can't seem to find one .. . . |
| I've never heard a 22 Mag dedicated upper. The biggest problem are the magazines. I think a person could mate a Ruger 77-22 mag barrel to an AR upper by building a collar to mate to the AR upper or just use a 1/12 inch twist AR barrel. You'd have to build a mag block to hold a mag in the proper position in relation to barrel and bolt. I'd say you would also have to modify or build the breach face on a bolt assembly similar to Ciener or Spikes. I was thinking the brass case head dimensions are just a little different between 22 mag and rimfire (mag case is larger). |

Then you have to build a bolt that's 2-3x heavier to keep the bolt closed long enough to keep from blowing cases.
That's why there aren't any .22WMR autos in current production. Ruger pulled their 10/22Mag due to poor reliability. My CZ 611 blows case heads on some brands of ammo. The HK300 was so expensive to build that they couldn't sell enough to keep them in production. |
