| I have a as new USAF .22lr conversion unit (no box) and 7 excellent condition USAF mags that I picked up several years ago & have never gotten around to using it. Because these units are unique & pretty rare I'm wondering how much the package is worth now. Any thoughts & feedback is appreciated. |

Please, Call Kevin at Black Dog Machine. He has been looking for one of these Air Force Units. I have been trying to do a trade locally for one but haven't been able to finalize a trade or purchase. He wants to look into making Hi Cap Mags for the unit. I am sure he will try to work something out with you. http://blackdogmachinellc.net/ Thanx, SO-13 |
| I already have been in contact with Kevin about this and that's the reason I'm trying to determine its value. Because of the way it's designed to function with both BB & DI it's a superior unit to a Ceiner IMO. If I decided to sell I'd want a deal that represents those factors & it's rarity. |

I bought one like new about 4 months ago for $150 with three mags. They seem to run in the $125-$150 for all the ones I have seen for sale. Mags are $15-$25/ea brand new (and yellowing with age). They is nothing rare about these. Saco made many 1000's for the .gov and sold off a boat load of parts to Sarco years ago. I would not consider these superior to the Ceiner. No full auto, the gas blow back dirty's the gun very quickly, and the mags are limited to 10rds. |

I talked with Kevin about the Air Force Units a week or 2 ago. I have a couple Nice Mags for it that I picked up for $10.00 each. A vendor had about 50 Mags at the Flea Market. I bought the Mags for Conversation Pieces. Personally, I like the Ciener Style Conversions over all the Kits and I have tried most. Kevin is Very Honest and will make you a fair deal for Cash or Trade. I did think the AF Kit would work full Auto because the Shells are held so far back but somebody was probably BSing me. This is one Conversion I haven't Shot. Around here (Florida) I have seen like New AF Conversions for $250.00 high, or less with several same condition Mags. I haven't been able to get the one I was trying to buy for Kevin because it has Sentimental Value to the owner. The Cieners are the most Desireable here and have gone for as much as $300.00 when they are hard to find. I have offered to trade a New Ciener and equil number of BDM Mags. I paid $140 Average for the Cieners and $22.50 per Mag. I consider that to be more than Fair. Cash, It would be less fair, I would be at the most offering $175. SO-13 |

I have a Tac Sol upper & know the folks at Tac Sol and their unit (albeit a dedicated upper) is far better than a Ceiner. I guess someone doesn't realize blowback is dirty too & the gas gets blown into the upper thru the gas tube no matter which unit you use. At least the USAF unit puts it to use. I'm pretty impressed with the USAF unit quality compared to Ceiners. We're entitled to our opinions. |

I meant no disrespect in what I wrote. I haven't tried an Air Force Unit Yet. I haven't seen the one you are Requesting an Estimate on. Maybe it's worth the high end based on it's nice condition. The one I am trying to buy has seen some semi-serious use. Prices vary. Kevin is trying to help those with Air Force Conversions by seeing if it's feasable to make Hi Cap Mags for them in the future. To do that he has to buy or acquire somehow, a conversion unit for evaluation. In reply to Ciener Quality: I have to date put 25,000+ rounds thru 3 Cieners in many Rifles and Pistols and they just continue to work better.I have 3 other Cieners but they aren't in continuous use like those first 3. For all the fun and high capacity mags I will put up with the cleaning. Out of 6 Cieners I haven't gotten a Bad one yet. Luck, probably... Other units have shown much more wear on them and the upper receivers I've had them in, with a lot less rounds fired. Cieners move on 2 rails, other conversions on 1. Accuracy, When I can put 150 rounds @ 25 yards rapid fire within a 10 ring through a non-dedicated upper, I'm not complaining. Was that a Run-On Sentence. ![]() SO-13 |
