I am looking at the HAHN Dedicated 9mm mag block. I have a question though, it says "armorer level" skills needed to install.

What exactly does the installation consist of?

Don't have one, but I believe what is required is remove the bolt release, insert block, pin the bolt release back in. Viola...instant 9mm goodness.

D'oh...found this on the HahnPrecision website.

Installation Instructions
1) Remove upper receiver from rifle.

2) With a punch partially drive out the Bolt Catch roll pin just enough to remove the Bolt Catch.

3) Install adapter from top of receiver as you depress magazine catch, if you have fitment issues check the magazine well dimensions.

4) Install Bolt Catch and drive pin to its original position.

5) Assemble rifle.

Mine took about 2 minutes to install with just a standard punch.  This block rocks.  I use it with a DPMS lower, RRA upper, and Cproducts mags.  Not one  malfunction yet.

Is this mag a lot better than the Hahn top drop in magblock?  I am having lots of fail to extracts with a 9mm AR pistol build using the Hahn top drop in magblock.

I have all 3 of their blocks and will say that the dedicated one appears to be an exact duplicate of the standard top load with the added benefit of the bolt catch actuator from the bottom load block (hence the reason it requires the removal of the bolt catch to install/remove).

If you are getting failures to extract, you may want to check the extractor on your bolt or check and make sure the ejector is okay also and not bent/broken.
