How legal is the 9MM AR carbine for persons under 21?  It has the standard 16-incher, so Class III is unneeded.

Thanks in advance.

It's the same as any other non-NFA rifle.  Why would it be any different?

Yeah, that's what I thought.  I was just being sure.

A friend (who won't get up off his lazy ass and ask you guys himself) wanted to know.  I told him, "it's basically the same as buying a HK," but he wouldn't listen to reason.

Thanks.

No problem.

In some states (maybe all, I'm not sure), most stores won't sell a pistol round to someone under 21. Or they might just ask you if its for a pistol or rifle, like WalMart. That might be what your friend is talking about. The rifle itself is perfectly legal though.

FWIW, if you are over 18 you CAN legally aquire NFA goods, but they must either be built or bought from an individual.

Most states and federal law say you must be 18 to own a rifle.

It has the standard 16-incher, so Class III is unneeded.
It is a Title-1 firearm, carry on, provided owner is over 18 or parental supervision.  If the barrel was shorter than 16", then it would be a Title-2 firearm, subject to provisions of NFA.

Thanks in advance.

If the issue is using handgun ammo, then simply tell whoever it is that the ammo is  for rifle when they ask... really should not ask anyway, anybody been asked about 22LR when indeed you is going to use it in a pistol ??

Want to have fun, I used to do it at Wal-Mart when I needed emergency ammo.... tell them it is for a "machine gun".... fella looked at me and said -- " it's not a pistol, and it's not a rifle, that'll be $xxx" took my money and told to have fun.
