Anyone making an upper in this caliber? The .40 mags should work, and since they can do 9mm barrels...

Have a barrel made, have 9mm bolt face opened up for the 40/357sig brass,
recut the extractor then use 9mm mag block and 9mm mags.
thats what i did
I dont know of any uppers or i would have puchased instead of made mine.

Not yet, but Rock River Arms plans to release a .40 S&W this year.

They are designing new magazines for it, and of course they will be making .40 bolts.

What I was thinking of doing was buying a .40 bolt and some .40 mags, then have a 9mm barrel rechambered to .357 Sig at that time.  Should be a lot cheaper than the custom route.

the only way to do a 357 is locking bolt witha gas tube. 357 sig is not a straight wall case. I ask ruger why not pc 357 sig rifles? I  talked to the guy that built them. He said on blow back actions the case is still under presser as the bolt moves back. So you need a straight case to do a blow back. You can have a 357 sig upper custom made but it will be gas run to be safe. If you want a faster 9mm just get a 10.5 barrel add a prem fake can and use 125 +P+P ammo. or get a 40 and use 135 grain corbons. I was geting 1640 fps out my ruger pc 40 with this ammo. I am geting around 1500 fps with the 10.5 9mm AR15 with +p ammo

I have had my AR 357 for about 3 years with no  problems and is a blowback.
I use a 8.5 oz buffer and a stiff spring for it to cycle.
The heavy buffer and spring hold the bolt forward longer and help with the preasure curve.
The only thing i dont like is you cant reload the brass after.
the gun is hard on the brass.
