Basically, I'm curious as to what is involved in a 10MM AR build. What mags and mag blocks does it use? I see Oly arms has an upper, does anyone else make on as well that is better? What things are there to look out for, and what parts work best?

Thanks in advance.

The Oly 10mm used modified .41AE UZI mags. The mags were pinched to create room for full-length rounds. They also had the Oly mag block welded on. Last I saw they only had 10 round mags left, and they may no longer have any of those.

A better solution is the Oly upper with a lower that can use Grease gun (M3/M3A1) .45 auto mags. Previously, only the Cav Arms MKII lower would work, and a Hahn Precision mag block, as well as a special heavy buffer was needed. Now, there is the Bazooka Arms(?) lower, the CNC/Tangochaser AR45 lower, and possibly in the future, the MGI Hydra lower with GG mag well.

The mag lips need to be pinched together a little, but it's easy to do. The mags hold 35/36 rounds of 10mm, but they are fairly long.

I have the Cav Arms lower set up and it has been reliable. I have a AR45 coming, and the CavArms set-up is for sale on the EE.

Can you post a pic or two of your modified GG mags?  I'd consider getting an Oly 10mm upper for hog hunting and general shooting if I could use GG mags.  I already have one of the first AR45's from CNC Gunsmithing/Khalan Manufacturing that I use for my Oly .45acp upper.

I wish Oly would consider going one of their lowers to accept Glock mags in 10mm, like they do in 9mm and .40.  13 rounds is better than no available mags!  Especially since I just picked up my Gen 2.5 G20 today!  I had a S&W 1006 before, but the singe stack grip just didn't fit me well.  The Glock is nice.  I also traded my 4506 away for a like new G21.

Wait a minute, that G20 mag/Oly lower idea might not work.  I'd have to pull a lower out of the safe and see if a G20 mag will fit in it or not width wise.

G20 mags are too wide.

Just pinch the feed lips together. it's nothing you could see in a picture, just enough to hold the rounds.

Some grease gun magazines will hold 10mm without modification.  I have at least one that will, and several that will not.  (An a bunch more in unopened 1955 foil packages.)  I intended to use the magazine with an Olympic 10mm upper and a Cavalary Arms lower with magazine block and heavy buffer.  Since then, I have returned my Olympic upper to Olympic Arms because of OEM defects in the interior finish of the stainless steel barrel.  The project remains on hold.
