A HUGE thank you to Kevin at Black Dog!! After reading my post here about my feed lips cracking, he emailed me and offered to replace my mags. I sent them back last week and today two brand new full-bodied smoke colored mags showed up.....awesome looking product, btw. That's some great service right there, not only standing behind his mags, but being proactive too!! Can't recommend BDM enough. Awesome!!!!!

Yeah, that's the second coolest thing about the BDM mags, they've got a kick-ass logo that fits me.

I just got 4, had to have a friend order them because of Marylands stupid 21+ round mag rules. Anyway I could only get 20 rounds into any of the magazines. I measured the springs and they are all 11" long. I noticed that it looks like the spring coils are getting caught on the little red plug at the bottom and don't compress over it's length. Anyone else notice that? How much can I cut off the spring and still have reliable feeding? I hope to get them out today or tomorrow. |

i noticed that too, and cut that spring plug WAY down so only 1 coil grips it. It makes re-assembly a little more difficult, since the plug tries to flip on you, but it makes loading the mags MUCH easier on the thumbs. Then I cut the spring to 10" which was a suggestion from BDM posted on one of the threads here....now I can get 28 rounds in them (but I usually only load 27), and they still work fine. |

I got two of the "Skinnys" several days ago and this is what happened. Well first I will tell you I am not as savvy with all the vernacular as most of you so bear with my descriptions. I have a Kuehl dedicated upper and had the ceiner kit tweeked at the same time. My lower is a DPMS. I am/were shooting Remington "Golden" ammo. So the first 20 rds of the 30 rd mag went fine but on the 21st rd the bullet didnt go all the way into the breech (OOB?). Looking into the ejection port I could see the bullet was at an angle, down at the rear. It was stuck on the sharp lower edge of the breech hole. It stuck right at the juncture of the lead and the brass casing. Looking at the ejected round I saw the tip was noticibly bent. I ejected the round and the same thing occured with the next round. Loading up the second "Skinny" I got the same results. I emailed BDM and they were nice enough to send me two sets of the Red followers which I installed. Same result. In the email the gentleman from BDM said he had bad results with that ammo so I switched to Mini-mags and had no problems at all. Sweet mags. So a thank you goes out to BDM. My question is the Rem goldens work fine in my original 10 rd mag and if I load up the 30 round mags with it I essentially have a twenty round mag. Would it be advisable to gently file the sharp edge off of the lower portion of the breech hole for a smoother transition for the round. Would that be the same thing as the feed ramps on my M4? I know the easy answer is to stick with mini-mags but I have a "Butt-Load" of rem goldens and would like to use them up. Again sorry for the kindergarden descriptions but hopefully you get a clear picture. Thanks for any insight. Terry fm Florida  |
Try Federal Bulk. I get very good results with it. |
| Tried my new full size mags for the first time today. All three mags ran 100% with Federal bulk ammo. Tried some Remington Golden bullets with not much luck. Failure to feed, failure to eject, and couldn't even get the Ciener bolt to go home on some rounds. From now on I'll stick to the Federal ammo for my kit and BDM mags. |

| Nice work on the red parts mod. I figured out that the lead in radius of the 2 spring end parts needed to be be bigger abd got the mold mod done today. They will both have a full ball on the ends as well as the bottom part has a 7 degree angle to align it to the bottom plate, this should prevent any spring binding. Mold will run this week. |

I just wanted to give BDM thanks for producing the 10 round BDM fullsize magazines. I promised myself that once BDM comes out with 10 rd versions, I'd order the magazines and a Spike's upper. I was surprised how fast BDM came through with producing the 10 rd mags for us in CA. .22 ARs are becoming a BIG hit, and so are the BDM mags. I just received my upper, and so far 500 rds, the BDM mags work flawlessly. Construction and finish is top notch. How is the durability of these magazines? One of my magazines fell from the bench, and didn't find so much as a scratch on them... but I'd like to know how well they hold up to extended use without being babied (nor abused). Thank you! |

I have 2 black BDM mags that I don't have any trouble with in one of my AR's. I just bought 3 clear BDM mags and can't get 2-3 rounds down range before a round jams. One mag jams after ever shot. The steel ciener mags and the black BDM mags work great. Anyone else had trouble with the BDM's? |

A message that seems to repeat itself is that Kevin at BDM is tops in customer service. He replaced my skinny mag and sent me new parts for good skinnies at no cost to me other than sending him the old one. I am highly impressed with how beefy the full size mags are. Thanks Kevin! Mikey |
I have 15 of the full size mags and have put just under 1000rnds through my kit and have only had 2 FTE's probaly ammo related these mags are great. Thanks Kevin for making a great product I was never interisted in the 22 kits till I saw these fullsize mags and now I am hooked

Any news on the M261 version mags? Seems like it's been a couple of months or more since the last update saying they were in beta testing. Can't wait to get hold of some of these.

I have a small issue with my two Black Dog Machine magazines. I bought two for my father that shoots in sub-cal matches over the winter and the Ciner kit wont strip a round off one of the mags and the other it drags so much it jams with the round out of battery. Looks like if the bolt is smashing into the right (ejection port side) feed lip and keeping the bolt from freely going forward, one drags and the other 100% prevents the bolt from going forward. Looks like if I file a couple thousands off that it might remedy the problem but I would rather know if this is a known fix? Advise please. Also pictures can be provided if it would be helpful. |

Problem..... Colt M16, 10" bbl. Ciener kit, with full polish/adjust/tweak/LSM spring. Runs like a champ with Ciener mags using Rem & Federal bulk, or anything else. In FA with original style BDM mags, FTE every few rounds, and light primer hits every couple of mags. Most FTE, spents cases are caught between front of false-carrier-ket and charging handle. Also between bolt face and chamber insert. Opening up the ejection port, chamfering the bolt, etc, have had zero change in FTE/LPH operation. Federal, Rem, Win, CCI....none work with BDM. Gun still runs 100% after mods, with Ciener mags and pretty much any ammo.. Would very much like to run BDM mags as they are much less expensive. Any advice? I ordered a Ciener kit and 2 BDM mags today. Does anyone have experience with the BDM in sub zero weather? I live and play in Montana where the weather can be very extreme. Just wondering how the plastic will hold up in extreme cold. Right now it's -17 below. Brrrr. Thanks

Last that I heard there are no plans for a 20 round version since there are only a couple of states that have a 20 round limit. |

| Im molding 300 full body mags in a OD tan color, they will be ready by the end of the week. I also am going to thicken up the feed lips on the skinny mag and run 1000 out of 30% glass filled nylon. Theese will be 32 rounders with the new followers. I did a test run on this material and they are very stout. After this run the skinny mold will be retrofited to run mini 14 .22 mags. OD green Full body very soon. |
