I was out shooting my ciener conversion today and after about 100 shots I had this happen..

I am not sure what caused it or what I need to do to make sure it doesnt happen again.. My thoughts are that I hadnt lubed the ciener enough and the bolt just didnt quite shut all the way - But I thought it shouldnt fire unless fully shut..

The good news.. I only had one stop pipe out of the entire session from the Black Dog magazines.. It has taken some tweaking, but they finally function much better..

any thoughts on the cause or how to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks

Brian

That would be a round firing out of battery.  To prevent this, get yourself a stronger recoil spring.  www.lakesideguns.com sells ciener springs that are much stronger and are more agrressive in getting your bolt into battery.

The ciener stock spring is pretty weak and I had similar problems until I switched to the lakeside springs.

Dirty chamber + stock spring = an occaisional oob firing situation.  .22s can be a bit ammo picky.

I checked out their website but I didnt see any springs listed.. Do you have a part number? Can you order directly from them or do you have to go thru a dealer?

thanks

Lakeside Machine Ceiner spring kits:

I ordered from JBA in PA. Good service, fast shipping. Recoil springs are cheap - I ordered three or four.

Definitely worth the money - I'm running a full length recoil spring. I did try one cut down to same length as stock spring but someone said the full length would work and it does in my Kuehl. Even standard velocity runs without problems.  Your Mileage May Vary.

Edit:  I put the cutdown Lakeside in my standard Ceiner (with the adapter for the 5.56 chamber) - works like a champ. I would try the full length first and then shorten as needed to get proper function with your particular kit.  I think that the full length will work in most kits with good ammo.
