how is the accuracy out of a 16 inch 1-9 barrel is there an optimum rifling twist for shooting .22s?

Mine shoots better than most can hold offhand with bulk ammo out of 1/9 or 1/12.

i have not tried it in 1/7 yet.

YMMV

ive heard this is also a very reliable conversion kit other than a little breakin period

I have found that reliability is fine and they will run cleaner when lubed with silicone spray instead of oil.
This unit (like most other .22 gun) will be fussy about what ammo works best , both from the reliability standpoint and accuracy end.

Fun in a box!

Dry looking is good.

I wipe mine down with CLP every once in a while (1-2k rounds) and it works with about any ammo. Too much oil will collect all the powder residue from the shitty 22 ammo.

ETA By wipe down , I mean I spray it then wipe it off with a rag until there is barely a film left on it.

I am firing mine through a 1/8 twist barrel and getting groups in the 2 inch range at 50 yards with about any of the bulk ammo I shoot. It has been 100% reliable since I polished the rails on the kit and replaced the gas tube with a shortened one flipped upside down to keep the crud out of the receiver. I use only BDM magazines. I have sbout 1.5K so far without any cleaning and most FTF's can be attributed to the ammo. I may try some decent ammo on paper to see if it helps the groups.

My M4 with 1/9 twist barrel gives me two inch accuracy at 50 yards using a OKO red dot sight.  This is using cheap wally world ammo.  It makes for great trigger control practice.

I would recommend polishing the parkerizing off the rails and feed ramp of the Ciener unit.  It will become reliable faster if you do this mechanically rather than waiting for it to wear off.

I lube mine with a good teflon lube and then wipe it all off.  I can go through a box of 500 like that and not have any problems.  It may even go further but I usually quit after  a box load and go home and clean.

I've had good performance from my Ciener unit. And I see zero sense in polishing the rails. The park actually serves to hold lube IMO. Just hand cycle 100 times and lube well. I've been getting about 98-99% reliability from a variety of ammo. Accuracy has been good from several different barrels but I'm currently running a 1-12 Colt pencil barrel and highly recommend them. The Ciener will start to slow up at about 350-400 rounds. That's just the nature of .22 LR and not much you can do about it. Just shoot some Rem Oil in or clean it completely. And I like the BDM mags very much.
