I didn't get one but they are M261 conversion units and the price is not too bad at $129 when you figure SARCO sells them for like $175. If you are looking for one they show up in the EE from time to time for less than the Oly price along with cheaper mags but the Oly price isn't bad.

This is the picture from their site;

AR15/M16 M261 Conversion Kit
We expect to sell all our M261 parts to a company overseas.  So now's the time to buy a support kit for your unit as no other parts exist for these: LAST CHANCE!!

just for your reference i got that off of their site http://www.sarcoinc.com/m261.html
so it looks like parts will not be available unless i am misunderstading.

Olympic 22LR dedicated upper works great for me. Much better in the accuracy department than a Ciener, due to Olympic using a rifled barrel sleeve. It's basically an M261 with a barrel sleeve. I also use the M261 magazines from Sarco with no problems. I use it for squirrel hunting with a 4x scope. No complaints; puts squirrels in the freezer.

In regard to your post about the accuracy, have you done any testing, and if so, could you post the results?

The reason I ask is that I just ordered a Ciener M16 kit with two 30 round mags and I'd like to know what to expect.

Also, does the barrel sleeve fit the full length of the AR barrel or what?  I'd guess it must be pretty thin if it does.  How durable is it and how do you store it when not in use?

I checked the Oly website, and their "Partner" system shows it is compatible with .17 and .22 cal.  Does it also allow for .223, or is it dedicated to the rimfire calibers?

Inquiring minds want to know.

That is interesting, wonder if the barrel is rifled? I am guessing it's not a regular 223 bore. I am still leaning towards the fulton armory upper, though the .17 conversion is neat.

I believe that it is only for 22LR and .17 cal.

I never did any testing with the Ciener system that I have, so as to actual accuracy as on a paper target, I don't know. I did try it on squirrels several times and didn't hit what should have been an easy target. Using a Ruger 10/22, it would have been a hit.

However... in changing over to the Olympic 2217 system, using the 22LR I've had no problems. The 17HM2 is another story, but seems to be problems with the ammunition, although I haven't had time to shoot the 17HM2 sleeve since last year's hunting season. Even though I haven't had good luck with the 17HM2... yet... the 22LR is great and I'm really glad I bought it.

Go to this link www.oa2.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3176&highlight= on the Olympic Owners Assn. site and there's a picture of a target I posted there in January 2006.

Draver.... the Oly 2217 upper is a dedicated upper that can only accomodate the 22LR and 17HM2 sleeves. The sleeves attach/detach from the front of the M261 type unit and you slide the bolt and sleeve attachment into the upper receiver as an assembly. You can use either the supplied magazine from Oly or M261 magazines [I bought several from SARCO] in a 30 round AR magazine. The magazines only hold 10 rounds which is fine for my purposes.

The Oly upper cannot fire any 223/5.56 rounds; it's only made to accept the 22LR or 17HM2 sleeves. I did a good bit of reading on the Internet in trying to decide which of the available 22LR uppers or complete rifles to go with, and finally decided to go on the Oly due to cost and, with the 17HM2 capability, more "bang for the buck" so to speak. There are other 22LR systems for the AR that exist and no doubt they work fine too, but I don't have any experience with them. My experience with the Oly is that I put the cross hairs on a squirrel, pull the trigger and the squirrel goes into the freezer that night. Assuming I don't screw up the shot, of course!

It's incredibly affordable on ammunition and fun to shoot and well worth the money I've paid for it... even if I haven't gotten the 17HM2 to cooperate yet. But as I stated earlier, I think the problem [split cases] was due to a bad batch of Hornady ammo that they produced, as I wasn't the only person who was having the same problems with the ammunition.

I'm not able to post photos on this site, but... if you go to the Oly site and find the 2217 Partner system, they'll have pictures.

What mags will it take?

Can I get 30 rounders for it?

Will it work on a RR M16 in full auto?
