I have a RRA A4 9mm , and was interested in geting a suppressor for it. Does the 16inch barrel have to be speciallt threaded, or does the flash-suppressor being taken off provide the threading for the suppressorr? Also who makes good yet affordable ones, i'm thinking the 500-600 dollar range

Doh

I didn't realize you were asking about 9mm suppressors.  I have no experience with those on rifles.

Making your gun into a SBR is very easy in MD. You should look into that.
The state police in Jessup automatically sign off on your form 1. And you can submit both forms at the same time.

i wanted to keep the 16 inch barrel, not cut it down to a sbr. i just want to know if the suppressor screws on to where the flash suppressor is. its 1x32" threading i believe

U can get thread adapters for the 1/2X36. It depends on what can U go with. So yes you can just thread it on. Im going the three lug mount way.

1/2x36 threads, Most 9mm's are threaded to that to avoid a 223 flash suppressor being screwed on.

My RRA SBR w/ AWC Suppressor screwed on

My homebuilt 9mm w / 5.5" barrel and the same AWC suppressor attached

Dedicated would be a thread on can. Three lug is common on alot of subguns. IM going with the Gemtech Trinity so I can use my can all three ways.

The Gemtech Trinity cans retail for $555 with one adaptor.  They are nice cans at a pretty decent price.

I only paid $350 for my AWC but it was a use can, off of Howard County SWAT team Colt 9mm SMG's.  But it works perfectly, even shooting 115gr ammo!

LRM Custom Firearms and Suppressors makes the M169 upper which is a 9mm/40S&W suppressed upper assembly, but I can't find prices or a web site for them, only posting on Subguns.com

You can pretty much figure $1000+  for a suppressed upper from Gem Tech or AAC. But that really isn't all that hatefull since most cans are in the $500 + range alone, add in a barrel, upper and Bolt and $1000+ sounds pretty reasonable.

With 1/2x36 threads, you would want a 3 lug and use a 3 lug adapter if you plan to put the can on and take it off often.  It quite easy to cross thread such a fine pitch.  Does the amount you want to spend include the $200 tax?  If not, there are lots of choices out there.
