Was hoping someone might know whether or not a DPMS .22lr upper will work with my Colt lower with the stupid sear block? I can't tell from the pics of the DPMS what the bolt looks like on the bottom. I called DPMS and got a "I don't think so" answer which left me kinda wondering. I guess I could learn how to remove the sear block...hanks Lug |

I don't know what the bottom of the DPMS bolt looks like either, but I would be surprised if it didn't work. IIRC the sear block doesn't stick up any higher than the cocked hammer so it could only be a problem if something at the back of the bolt caught on it coming forward, and AFAIK the DPMS doesn't work with full-auto so it wouldn't have anything to hit the auto-sear which is in the same general location as the block. And the DPMS bolt is based on the old Colt conversion kits. Doesn't mean that Colt made their kits to work in their blocked guns (if they even sold both at the same time), but it might lean the odds in your favor. If you do have to remove the block, I've heard that they're made from pretty hard metal so it might not cut easliy. But at least you don't have to remove the whole block. |
