[ARCHIVED THREAD] - AR upper for 9mm?

I am building a 9mm SBR upper. I have a spare LMT flat top for an AR project. Will this work if I add the case deflector and short port door without any problems or do I need to get a specific 9mm upper?

You don't even need the case deflector, or the short door, unless you're after the "look". All my 9mm builds used regular uppers with no probs.

Use the upper you have. the "9mm" upper will cost you more if that is what you desire.. the upper will hold the barrel in position, and provide a runway for the bolt to travel.

I used a spare mystery funshow flat top to hold my 9mm barrel. No need for the deflector, unless you is a leftie.

Cool.....I didn't like the looks of the deflector and the short door. Thanks for the replies and info. Now just gotta wait for the form 4 to get back so it can be finalized and holding out for the new Magpul UBX stock to be released.
