Well I was thinking about stocking them, but first want to use one in my 9mm AR. It is my understanding that they are made for full auto weapons.

I'm not running them in a 9mm upper but I run them with all my 5.56 uppers <semi auto> and love them... And it would be great to have a reliable source like G&R Tactical having them in stock...

You run them in your semi-auto AR (shooting 5.56)? Hmmm interesting. I can get them all day long and will make call on Monday and order some then....

How do the tungsten buffers differ from a 9mm buffer? Pics?

Look the same, but are just heavier than H buffers. I don't have the weight specs on them (yet).

Mine are all 5.6 ounces.  I used to get them from Fulton Armory but they don't stock them any longer...

BUFFER WEIGHTS - I believe this is what is offered as Colt Buffers

Rifle - 5.15oz, made of aluminum

CAR - 2.9oz, made of aluminum

H - 3.77oz

H2 - 4.7oz

H3 – 5.6oz

9mm - 5.47oz, made of steel

9mm A - 6.3oz CAR style buffer

9mm B - 7.1oz CAR style buffer

9mm X - 7.9oz CAR style buffer

What is the weight on these tungsten buffers?  I'm looking for a couple of heavy buffers.

I just called and ordered some. I believe they actually H2's and so the weight should be about 4.7.

Do you think you'll have any luck finding a source for the tungsten/H3 weight buffers?  Fulton Armory had them for $35 but no longer carries them.  I won't do any more business with SAWsales since the owner's tirades here on ARFcom... $75 each from SAW seems a bit extreme for an H3 anyway...

The H2's are on the way and I will check on the H3's.

Regarding the 9mm buffers: Does anyone know what the rule of thumb is for buffer weight regarding barrel length or ammo?  I'm going to be running a semi auto 7.5" bbl shooting 115 to 147 gr and am pondering which buffer to use.

For semi auto use, weight is not really an issue.  Weight is mostly for rate of fire control when runniing full-auto..

If rifle tube-stock, run a rifle buffer.

If "CAR" tube-stock,  run a CAR buffer that is similar weight to rifle buffer, more weight wont hurt it.

I run a 9mm with suppresor, with A2 stock and modified rifle buffer that weighs 7.0oz.... only reason I did this was to try and hold bolt to try to cut down the backdraft of the suppressor out the port.

I can get you any weight buffers you want. They just won't be marked H3. Let me know...

More weight can be detrimental if you have weak ammo....

Anyone know if there is an advantage to running these in a 50AE upper?

It will slow down the recoil impulse.  I haven't tested my new setup in the 458 SOCOM, but I am running an H-Buffer with a Carrier Weight System and Tungsten rod.  I'm using the standard carbine spring but may switch to the Wolff +10% if the standard one is too light.

SHIVAN,
Thanks, my upper is on order and I am trying to figure out the best parts to use to build a lower for it.

I would like to reduce the recoil on a 9mm AR.  It has the 5.4? ounce Colt buffer in it now.  What would adding a buffer thats an ounce or two more, do?
