I just bought a 2nd hand JAC 22 kit (M16) with 2-30 round mags. I think it's an older model, square firing pin/removeable chamber adapter. Anyway, I was able to 'test drive' it this past weekend in my full auto lower. One 30rd mag runs like a champ after a little spring 'tweaking'.

The other 30rd mag is giving me fits. I keep getting a failure to eject.....the bolt will close on an empty casing with a live round partially fed into the chamber....all that is needed is to 'pluck' the spent one out and away you go for another round or two. This is the usual malfunction I keep experiencing with this one. Is there anything I should look for / tweak / file?????

This thing is a blast with the 30 rounder that runs.....everytime I pull the trigger on a full mag all you can see after the brass is done raining down is a grin from ear to ear!h

It sounds like your magazine lip is prematurely ejecting the spent casing.  Insert the reliable mag and then replace it with the one that is giving your problems.  You want to compare the height of the magazine lips.  Chances are, you'll see that the problem mag's lips sit higher.  If this is the case, slowly file the lips down until it works reliably.  I had to do this with two out of four 30 round mags.   It worked for me.

Dan,

Thanks for the reply. I think that high mag lips are the problem because there is definate wear across the top of the problem mag. I'll give it a go and let you know what happens.

Ive had to do liberal filing and a little bending of most of my mags to ensure reliable feeding.  It seems like they require "retweaking" every so often but I've opened them all up a great deal and they work great now.

UPDATE

Dan0341 and Pinto.....thank you for the info. The problem mag is running near 100% after a few strokes of the file and a little tweaking.
