Finished putting together my colt/rra 9mm carbine.  the el-cheapo 32 rnd mags I bought prior to the ban (read 11 years prior to purchasing the parts to do my 9mm build)  run excellent, however the RRA uzi convert I purchased does not.

The rounds seem to catch on the front of the mag and below the step in the feed ramp.  I am guessing that there is supposed to be a step there?  The el-cheapos have the same reveal and run excellent?

Can i polish up the feed ramp and take some of that step out or is it critical?  The magwell block is supposed to be COLT, but it is not marked so I can't be 100%.  It loads from the top...

All mags show some movement while in the magwell block, is that normal?  All the mags I have do not have the back ridge, will that help tighten up the tolerances?  If so, can I just tack weld a ridge to it and refinish, or is there another reason for the clearance step on the rear of the magwell block?

Thanks in advance for any insight here...

The clearence step is for Colt mags, they have the holdopen tab.  I have a RRA block and Colts and Uzis fit loose, The SA's are all over the place, tight and loose. If you look at the inside part of the ramp(mag side or rear if you will) there should be a "Lip" that the Uzi's should bottom out on, If not then your Uzi's may have the notch cut a little low....UDOG

Thanks Udog..

I figured that the front lip was cut to bottom out the mags, I expected to have problems with the el-cheapo's as they are cut much lower than the RRA uzi???

Didn't get my answer on polishing up the feed ramp or if it is required to remain in spec for whatever reason??  any help???
