I'm going to build a 9mm AR.
I'm going to use the Colt system but,
Which mag blocks work the best?
Colt ASA Hahn ?
Pro's Con's ?
Reliabilty is what I'm looking for.

Colt and Rock River are the same. You insert from the bottom and lock them in with a hex wrench which drives two pistons on the front and rear of the mag well. They also are held in by the mag catch. They work well and can be adjusted a tad up or down based on the mag catch hole space.
The Hahn is similar in size shape and size but drops in from the top. It is very well made. It has a very small pin (nipple) that rests on the inside wall of the mag well towards the hammer are. It also is held by the mag catch.
I preferred the Colt type.
I am not familiar with the ASA but have read a couple negative comments.

Curious, what have you heard?
I have an ASA block in one of my 9mm carbines, and I've had great luck with it, in both semi and auto. Flawless function.

It drops in from the top, and uses the factory mag catch to lock it in place. No marking up the inside of the magwell with allen screws, no risk of the block falling out, and it's easy to swap the block between lowers without the use of tools.
It's not as pretty as the Hahn block, and it has no provision for last round hold open, but a pretty good design in my opinion, and worth the $$.

I have very little to say about the ASA. I read about it in this or in another forum a couple times. The construction was one issue stated, and whether the block would fall/move around with the mag release pressed the other.
I've never seen an ASA mag block.
The bolt holder on the last round is one negative point if you use Colt mags. It's a nice feature in the Colt or RR, but I also live with Uzi clips in a RR and they do not hold the bolt after the last round.
I would think your experience is most relevant.
Does the ASA have a small pin/nipple at the top resting on the inside mag wall like the Hahn (preventing it from falling through)? The Hahn was somewhat "loose" because it could not be tightened in. I was not too keen about that though the finish and construction (an possibility of rebuilding) was very nice. I no longer own a Hahn. Is the ASA bolt the same as the other Colt like systems? I'm interested, because I have an ASA 9mm upper which I bought used a year ago and I was thinking of a 9mm ASA set up.
