@slappomatt
I have one in a bone stock A2 20 inch upper fixed stock rifle buffer.
Works good.
I didn't make any changes accept installing the kicker.

I’m sure the answer is somewhere in these posts, but is an H3 buffer required for the TK to operate correctly like the standard FRT’s need?  I’m moving mine that didn’t work in the A2 lower to a carbine lower.

I used an H2 in my 16" carbine and it worked just fine.  I just went ahead and bought an H2 without even trying a regular one.
My 9mm PCC worked just fine but it has a heavier buffer to begin with, and my 300 BLK worked fine with a standard
buffer.

An H3 is absolutely not required.  A proper H3 or a Tromix are simply easy buttons for many setups.

Increased buffer weight slows things down which is often helpful.  And the deadblow effect from an H3 is some of the best medicine to ward off bouncing bolts and carriers.

But, tuning gas and springs can do the same magic.  Heavier springs increase bolt velocity on the return to battery, but a lighter spring is more gentle returning to battery.

Many folks can find success tuning out gas over a lighter spring.  They find that H1 or H2 bring enough deadblow to the party to prevent bounce in the lighter spring situation.

But, if you are like most casual AR enthusiasts - a quality H3 with a Carbine spring is probably your easy button.  Personally, I'm not tuning gas yet.

That’s me. I have some extra H3’s and I’ll just stick one in it and give it a try in the next few days.

Thanks for the replies.

Put the TK in a carbine lower with a H3 buffer and it sings music to my ears!!

So, the current Hoffman piece is either "safe/no fire" or "hold onto your hat" whole nine yards?

No semiauto possible?

He is working on getting a 3 position Kicker ready for the market.

Finally got mine installed into a 16" carbine gas with regular buffer and it ran like a top. Put an old YHM Turbo on it and it ran with no issues. I dumped six mags yesterday and not one hiccup. I have to verify , but I think that old lower had a MBT on it.

Tried mine out today for the first time, only getting one shot followed by a light strike.  The hammer is following the bolt, not catching as it should on the trigger.  IAR upper and Colt lower with tromix H3 biffer and sig 716 trigger assembly (trigger kicker didnt work with colt fcg).  Very disappointing, drove 2k miles with a bum gun, need to find another cheap fcg.

The TK is very sensitive to hammer and safety type. Check what you have carefully against what Hoffman recommends.

Just so we're clear, the gun stops firing if you let off the trigger. It doesn't run away until the magazine is empty.

Hoffman is working on a 3 position Trigger Kicker, which will include normal semi auto. He says the prototypes are finished, and he's just working on how to manufacture it at scale.

Pics of a trigger that works, and a trigger that wont allow the action to cycle.

PSA Enhanced Mil-Spec (the shiny one) works great vs. junk drawer find.

Look at that ramp.

Sounds great. Thank you for making many of us a more happily world.
Still gotta figure out why I cant get a full run on a mag.
Bought a trigger, and a Tromix H3, but only getting a short burst, then it stops on an empty chamber. Maybe a different buffer spring ? Empty chamber, I would think is a short stroke. Maybe see if trigger pulled hard is an issue ? I'll try a softer trigger pull.
I just want safe and fun in my 7.5" folding brace pistol.
I have a partisan 3 pos that works in several lowers, so i know they work.

The 7.5” pistol gas system can often be severely over gassed. Mine runs too fast for the magazine to keep up, which is likely your problem. I fixed it with a Tromix H4, but an adjustable gas system would be another viable solution.

Took the MBT2S out of a del-ton 20" A2, had to scrounge through the parts box for a trigger/hammer that worked right. Took 3 tries.

It runs great. Can do singles, doubles, or as many as you want.

Very happy.

I don't think there's room for a Trigger Kicker in a MBT2s.

Not even slightly.

Great trigger for hitting things, but I have others.

This one is now for turning money into noise.

The rate of fire is relatively slow with this setup.

Watching videos for comparison, I would say 600rpm, maybe slower.

I understood that you may have misunderstood.

I may have been less than clear due to my enthusiasm.

No blood, no foul. 😆

Had to try 3 different triggers from the parts box to find one that worked with the kicker.

No idea what the differences were, didn't look that close.

Just found one that worked.

Now happier than the happiest clam. 🙂

It runs fine with a partisan and an H2 buffer. So when I got the kicker, I followed recommend parts. I read somewhere to pull lightly on the trigger. When I get some time, I'll go play again.

Some good news on my bore buddy 22 upper with a TK.

Swapped hammer spring to the yellow reduced power hammer spring, with mini mags it rips and 100 flawless rounds today.

Win 22 is 75% still.

Specs:

Bore-buddy 16" upper, Steel weight and full steel rod weights with TK trip

Yellow reduced hammer spring

Red recoil spring

Schmidt hammer

PSA trigger

Trigger kicker

CMMG mag

Used a second buffer body as a buffer plug in front of the buffer/spring. This allowed zero movement in the bolt assembly.

Yeah.
I bet it's easier than we think. I earlier this week I compared a cut M16 hammer to one of the SS marked ones like recommended and the cut M-16 hammer had the same profile other than the partially ground nub as the SS marked hammer. Took a 120grit flap disc on the grinder and profiled it down to match the rest of the hammer and it matched the suggested hammer. The fine grit makes it REALLY slow to remove material and left a smooth finish. Cycling it by hand it matched the SS marked hammer for feel and when hand cycled functioned as expected. Haven't had range time with it yet.
