I wonder how the new ARC fire 0-45-90 will be. I hope the clicks are sufficiently distinct. I am already planning on adding 20-40 thousandths in shims under the selector spring to increase the tension if need be.

On another note, I wonder if a 0-55-110 or 0-60-120 selector would actually work. Seems like it would leave more room in the cam profile, and also serve to keep the lever out of the way when in the third position.

If the FRT-15C3 works of cams and the bolt hitting it, does that create any timing issues or additional failure points?

Thank you for the information on that, especially about the buffer weight.  I would have just given him a standard buffer.

So, I picked up a C3 for my belt-fed since I heard of issues with the Fightlite uppers. Worked good, and since I had two more ARs I wanted to make FRT… I ordered two.

The 5.56mm tested/ran without issue. I previously tried my 2 AR9 uppers on the L3… worked. So I figured the C3 would be good for my one AR9 with Angstadt Vanquish (Stern bolt). NOPE! I pulled the H&R 635 upper/bolt… which works on the L3… same issue with the C3.

The AR9, even with the M16 bolt cut, does not reset the trip on the C3. Switched the AR9’s C3 out for a 5.56mm’s L3… no more problem.

Just a heads up, in case anyone tries and has an issue.

I wonder if they will incorporate the new 2-stage 15C3 design into the old 1-stage 15L3 version. Not everybody wants or needs a 2-stage trigger.

I'm pleased (make that FREAKIN' pleased)  to report the FRT-15C3, with a bit of help from Datum Machine Works , is running like a top in my pre-ban Colt 6920.

This is a bone-stock Colt 6920, compete with sear block (and LEO/Mil Only Restricted markings), running the FRT-15C3 Two-Stage (3-Position) trigger.  Because my Colt uses the older, .170 pins, I ordered and installed the Forced Reset Cassette   Colt Large Pin Sleeves   with Spring Pins .  There is no easier install.  The bushings slid right in, displacing the RB bushings, and the pins popped right in.  The spring design holds them in place without unsightly screws or clips.

I also added their Milspec   FRT Modified   Safety Selector  because I like the OEM look.

That's it.  No H3 buffer, no dicking with springs, etc.  Just charge and go.

Will the Datum safety rotate past the third position due to Colt removing the selector stops?

Out of curiosity, has anyone measured the trigger pull for the FRT15C3? What is the pull weight?

I will do this at my lunch break, or tonight if I don’t get one.

It was not taught by the State.

New ones as in new Datum FRT selectors that don’t need the lower to have selector stops?

I know Colt only recently started putting selector stops back on their lowers, but there’s a bunch of Colt lowers without them.

What a win.  Datum Machine Works has amazed me by providing several products the frt market wanted...and then it's like "hey can you do this" and like a week later he sending you stuff... amazing.  I am still happy about the selector fix he did for the RB mp5 FRTs.

Gorton87 makes some excellent pins.

Didn’t want to support rare greed but didn’t want to bother with ruining a g$ trigger either.

Two stage is very nice and crisp. Single stage on frt is also smooth and light.

It probably resembles my psa two stage trigger the most.

Shot it today. I said two stage felt like a psa two stage but it is probably closer to a Larue trigger in my opinion.

Had a standard carbine buffer so reliability wasn’t there but I take blame for that. Couldn’t find my h3 buffer anywhere.

Great experience and my cousin will likely get one too.

Gorton87 I had comms  back and forth with you several weeks ago mid June ish. When will these non rotate past 3rd position selectors for the L3 and C3 be available on your site for order ?

Hawking it hard daily cause they will go fast I  imagine.

Surfing this thread obviously their is a large interest in a L3/C3 non rotate past FRT position selector.
👍🏻🤟🤟👍🏻

Gonna get a set of your sleeved pins also per other's posting on this thread input.

The RB C3 selector ain't  rocking to my eye appeal nor their pins.

I just want the regular appearance my LE 6920 had back.
0 use for telegraphing ....

Got 0 complaints about the C3.
Reminds me of my 1st 4 yrs as a 11B with a A1
You control how many rds you want to fire.

Germany in 86 was my intro to the A2 and 3 rd burst.

Single sided milspec in production right now. We had some tooling that the post office lost (big surprise).

Ambi we are waiting for material.

I’ll definitely be in for an ambi. One that comes with the rb just looks cheap to me.

Is anyone running the stock selector with their C3 or is everyone universally swapping them for the Datum selector. I have the Datum in my L3 and Disruptor, just wondering if the stocker feels as positive as the Datum and the switch is mostly for esthetics?
7/25/2026 12:11:52 AM EDT
[#29]
Personally I prefer the datum selector over the rb and the partisan for feel, but also for looks as well. My finger is just used to the regular selector on an ar15 which is what the datum is.  I think the clicks are more positive too.

It's hard to describe, but in my opinion, the RB selector with a KNS detent pin feels like it has a smoother rotation, but has to be pushed all the way to the next position.  The modified Schmidt selectors from Datum feel mil-spec and have a snappier throw.

The 9mm Maxim Defense 9mm JP Silent Captured Spring buffer works for CQB stock with a 2-stage rarebreed. I installed it and it's heavy enough to prevent bolt bounce on my 8.5" 300BLK. The only issue it's too stiff to remove without uninstalling the trigger because the trip is blocking it.

If you cock the hammer, and rotate the cam (what you called the "trip") to the rear position, can the buffer clear them both and be withdrawn? From the photo it looks like it would clear.

No, the cam is too tall. It would probably work with a regular buffer, the 9mm JP Silent Captured Spring buffer has 3 solid weights so it can't move left, right, or up while in the shorten buffer tube.

Edit: Just double checked. Moving the cam back would push the rearward weight back into the buffer tube and the clearance is about 1-2mm too tall.
