Hi - Bob in Florida checking in. Been lurking for a long time, finally joined last month.

Love the AR platform (have an underfolder AK as well, and handguns and shotguns), so need to start joining in the conversations!!

Have several AR models - modern ones built on 80% lowers, and a couple of retros that I really like because they're so similar to what I carried as an infantryman. When I joined the Army we were still qualifying with the M14, but a year or so later the M16 was standard issue.

Here are a couple of AR15 builds:

And my AR10 7.62 (also with an 80% lower):

Butt....recently I've gone retro with an XM16E1 and M16A1 clones:

I think I'm gonna build a 601 next!! Anybody have a nice 601 lower??

C'ya at the range!!

Bob

Welcome Bob. I was in AF back in 73-77 and I too qualified on M14 I think.  After that, everything was pretty much a blur.

Thanx for the welcome guys!!

I joined the Army in the fall of '64 and we were still qualifying in Basic Training with the M14, and retired from the military in '87 (did 15 years in the Army, 8 in the Coast Guard). Over the years I qualified on a bunch of different weapons, and got to fire a lot more, but I like the M16 the best, so I'll probably mostly be hanging out in the Retro section of the forum.

Bob
