Ideally the bolts should stay with the barrel assembly.
Unless you check the headspace and it is good. With new barrels and a new bolt, the headspace check is good, but you can get away without it as the tolerances between bolt and barrel assembly are such that you can get an unsafe condition (Assuming your new stuff is actually made to print...) However, with used stuff the situation is different, bolts wear, extension lugs wear, things change. A bolt with a few thousand round may not be to print anymore. So mixing used bolt and barrel assemblies can lead to dangerous conditions. |
| Awesome thanks. I was referring to the carrier itself. From what I can tell the only difference is the actual carrier. Bolts look the same. He said he'd just swap the bolts too so I am cool with that. It's a plinking rifle anyways so neither of us have top dollar parts on them. |
