Hello everyone,
Want to get a Ar-15 so I've been creeping on the board for a while to learn a few things. Looking to spend $600-$900. I live in Keller, Texas, anyone know of some places that sell some good quality rifles around here for my price range? Tried Academy and they said I had to be 21.
I'm 20 btw.

Thanks, really enjoy the board!!

Colt LE 6920 is a great rifle in that price range.
If you want to customize a little, check out Palmetto State Armory.

Other parrot trolls will come along with BCM, DD, LMT, and Colt.
Out of those, the only complete rifle that will hit your price point is Colt. They just parrot names that they have heard are good on the boards.

There are cheaper options out there that will suit for plinking at the range, so it depends on what you want to do too, but for my money, regardless of whether I wanted a plinker or a dead nuts reliable SHTF gun, I'd still build or buy it right.

As for where to buy, go back to academy and ask if that is store policy, because it is NOT TX state law. TX state law, from my quick perusal says 18.

Thanks for the reply!! I will check it out, looking for a good range gun, and  when SHTF haha.. And yes I called academy and they said it was a company policy.

Do you have a Wal-Mart close by? They usually have good prices. I got my DPMS there and it has been flawless. $705 with  a 3X9 scope. May be a little cheaper now. I got it during the panic.

DB doesn't get a good rep around here.

I would look for an LGS that will do a transfer to you, then buy whatever you want online.

Agreed with the other guys here.  I have a couple of BCMs but it's hard to touch the $850 colt 6920s right now.

I'd go to the upper end of your limit and just spring for the Colt 6920.  As someone else said, find a local gun store that will do a transfer for you (usually $25-$50, depending) and then find one online.  With the Colt, you won't have many (very few actually) on the forums tell you that you made the wrong choice.

I live near you, very near you.  IIf you buy a off the rack gun at Academy, Wally World, where ever, take 8.25% off your money away, so $900, is $80, so you have $810-$820 because you are going to have sales tax.  Do what others said, buy a Colt 6920 online for $850 and hope for free shipping then use gunbroker to find a close, FFL that is cheap near you.  I have one that does $10 transfers and they are 4 minutes away, it is nice.  U won't really find a Colt 6920 new for $810 in DFW, but dude we have a gun show every week, also consider going and buying off another person FTF, may do better.
