| Not trying for a exact A2 build. I just was wondering which A2 stocks to look at. I see DPMS, Colt, RRA, and I'm sure there is more. Colt is a bit pricy, but if it is the ONLY reliable one then I'll go that route. I kinda like the RRA one... Idk |

I've had Colt, DPMS, and a PSA that were all the same. Greyish color, white foam inside I think, good quality. any RRA experience? That I can't help you with. Yea I figured. Thought maybe ya knew someone with one. |

The RRA's I have are the same as the DPMS I have as described above - Grey colored with kind of a cream colored foam inside with a plastic trap door. I actually just received another one directly from RRA today and it is still the same as the others I already have. |
| I have a colt match target so i have an original to compare to. The psa is the only affordable mil a2 stock ive seen. Its your best bet for cheapest real a2 stock. Ive heard bushmaster and dpms make legit ones too but they are usually more in my experience. Everything else is a cheaper substitute of some varying degree. I have a rra a2 stock too, but its hard cheaper plastic and the foam in not the proper type. Its substandard quality in my opinion to the colt, but is still in reality a nice product. Some of the cheap cheap ones are really not good. Spend a lil more get the real thing. The real ones are gray not black. Check EE often you can usually get a good deal on one there if you are patient. |

Things to look for in an A2 stock are:
Does it have a metal or plastic trap door. (Metal's generally better) Does it use a solid (yellowish/cream-colored) foam with cleaning kit pocket inside the stock or is it a hollow white plastic type insert inside the stock (the solid foam version is what you're looking for here) Is the stock body itself more grayish-black or true black in color (Grayish ones were used early on & later the black-type started showing up) & lastly the Buffer-Tube - Is it grey or black in color (early ones were grey) DPMS tubes tend to be black while Windham Weapons & Bushmaster tend to be more grey in color. Dpms stocks that I have had, all have metal trap doors, while Bushies have all been plastic. Hope this helps ya... |

I picked up a couple of the DPMS A2 kits from Sportsman's Guide a few years ago and they do have the yellow foam, metal (aluminum) trap doors, and black tubes. DPMS will also have the aluminum spacer, while some makers use a plastic spacer. Just something else to watch out for. I know that DPMS gets criticized a lot, but honestly everything I've used from them has been really good stuff. I just assembled and barreled one of their C7 uppers from CDNN yesterday, and it appears to be excellent quality. |

I have several Rock River Armory A2 stocks. I also just bought a couple of new Colt factory A2 stocks and they are the same in every area... I have keen eye and couldn't see any difference in color, materials or construction... Except in the pricing. I would say that they are made by the SAME contractor.
I have two old pre-ban Colt A2 rifles that I'm replacing the well worn stocks, grips and handguards. I was hoping that these A2 stocks will darken to a more "blackish" color with a little CLP like the earlier A2 stocks... I even tried the old black shoe polish trick, but with zero effect. Besides not being black or a darker grey, they are pretty solid with good construction. I was also looking at an Armalite A2 stock and it was pretty cheesy/cheap looking and the buttplate did not fit properly and appeared to be pretty flimsy in construction... BUT!! it was a true black. |
