I felt the need to build a light, simple midlength for recreational use; all of my carry handle ARs before this one have been A1.  This is what I came up with using a few new parts and stuff out of the parts box:

* McKay lower (via NoDak Spud) with an RRA LPK and unknown (probably RRA) A2 PG
* M&A Fiberlite-type CAR stock with a milspec-sized six position RE and H buffer
* Daniel Defense 14.5" LW midlength with a pinned A2X in an unknown A2 upper with M4 cuts to match the barrel extension and a BCM BCG

Dry weight is 5 pounds 13 ounces, it would have been a little lighter if I hadn't used an H buffer and a FA BCG.  Light enough for me!

I'm looking forward to getting this sighted in - it was a nice, low stress build.  All I have left to do is mount the sling (a Boonie Packer 2P-TQA with their M4 buttstock attachment and SFSM front mount is on the way) and find some slimmer A2 handguards - these are a little too fat for my tastes.

I am collecting bits and pieces myself to create basically a similar rifle like yours. Does your barrel assy have an F-marked FSB, or were you able to get a standard one? I have been looking for a good used mid-length barrel, but most have shaved or F-marked FSBs.

This one is an F FSB.  I'm not expecting any problems in zeroing.

I am going to do a barrel swap on my KISS carbine to a midlength barrel and your pic is pretty much what I had in mind. Only I am going to go with a 16" A2 Profile barrel.

I like it! Great work for a parts bin gun.

Good looking rifle, this format has been on my mind but in a Black Hawk Down kind of way.

+1 for this build. Looks like a carbine I could carry all day and not feel sore.

I have one very similar, except I have a short (RRA entry) solid buttstock on a 14.5 pinned A2 style upper.   I'm really liking it lately...

I replaced the CA handguards with a RRA set, they're a little slimmer.  I'll try and get a pic up.

Good job, I have a Colt 6520 but I like the mid-length system.

I'm in love.  Great build.  I'd rather have a 6 pos stock though.  More comfy to me.

How does she shoot?

Nice, alot like my KISS middy. Very utilitarian, right up my alley.
