I have a set of rifle-length handguards for my A2 upper.  They are not tapered toward the muzzle as I have seen on traditional A2 handguards; rather, they have a consistent thickness from receiver to muzzle, such as an M4 handguard.

I have not found any information about them with Google searches.  Is this a common variant of the A2 handguards?  If so, what are they designed for, and what purpose would they serve versus a traditional tapered handguard?

If pictures are desired, I can take a few and upload them later this evening.

Thanks for the link!  So I take it this is just designed for the commercial market, and not originally a military design?

Actually,  Calvary makes two AR sets of 20" handies...and neither are exactly what the military uses....AFAIK.   The one type is a
solid cylindrical tube shape, and maintains the OA diameter front to back.  These are quite fat, and not likely to be confused with
anything else.  Then they also have a slightly smaller in diameter set, which does taper slightly front to back.  These also are fatter
top to bottom than side to side...like M4 Carbine handies.  I really like the "M4" style  guards on the 20" rifle.  The full cylinder jobs
just strike me as a wee bit too fat.    Just added a set of the C7 handies to a 20" Bushie with fluted BBL.  Looks and works good.
Only possible issue is that they tend to squeak a bit when squeezed together.  This can be fixed by shimming the location pins or
their matching holes, in the sides of the guards.  Have fun!
