| I'm new here and came across the A2 build section. I want to build an A2 similar to what I was issued in the Marine Corps. Where can you buy FN 20" barrels from and how much do they usually cost? After viewing the other 2 topics of finished A2 builds that look amazing I was hoping you guys could help. Thanks. |

I have not used one, but some of the A2 builders have used these....
Ohio Ordnance |
| I picked up my first FN barrel from a friend on another site in a swap. All the rest I got right here in the EE. My FN barrels have proven to be the most accurate original equipment barrels I have used in builds, and yes, more accurate than Colt barrels. I now much prefer FN barrels for my builds if I can get them....<><....:) |

Try www.pkfirearms.com. They have them in stock. A little expensive compared to what can be found in the EE (when they show up) or OOW, but PK is good people. ETA: I wonder how PK's FN barrels are marked? They do not seem to be surplus barrels, considering that they offer mid-length & CAR length too. |
| Sorry for taking so long to say thanks. I talked to Albert from OOW and confirmed they had what I was looking for. Ordered the M16 A2 upper with barrel like Texan Ninja did. Just cae in the mail today. Couldn't be happier. Thanks a lot for pointing me in the direction of OOW. Next up is the BCG. Is it possible to get a FN BCG or those hard to find on the civilian market? |
| Palmetto State Armory has FN barrels. I used one on my A4 build. Link |

$239 (some were higher) seemed high to me also. I am nowhere near an expert on prices but you can buy brand new quality M16 BCGs for about $120, so IMO you would be paying a $110 premium to get the FN marking. This The ones on gunbroker are a ripoff. I recently bought a complete FN BCG on the EE for $150 shipped |

What is the EE? EE = http://www.ar15.com/forums/b/7_Equipment_Exchange.html Be careful though, & keep a tight hold on your wallet. |
| Many of the FN BCG's were just a cage code carrier with a MPF marked bolt right out the crate so there are a few variations that would be correct for a FN build. Patience is the key. Even a new one after a few rounds isn't going to be any different than a nice used $125 unit. Stuff usually shows up in abundance for cheap after purchase is made. True authentic current Govt contractor M-16 carrier is the same especially when talking about a FN that isn't F marked. Millions have been produced for FN so it's not like a rare limited production item such as an early Colt chrome unit. |

I got a 20" barrel from OOW and was very pleased. It was a little pricey, but it was barely used, if used at all. They shipped it to the wrong address and it took two weeks to get it, but I assume that was a fluke.
And of course, they went on sale for $165 three days after I placed my order. |

The genuine military (if it actually makes any difference?) FN barrels and uppers appear on the Exchange Board often. Purchased two nearly complete A2 assemblies in the past few weeks. And, as mentioned, Palmetto has FN barrels at decent prices. In thinking about it . . . all four of my AR15 / M16A2 type clones have FN barrels. This appears then to be a hammer forged barrel household.
As far as FN bolts and carrier groups go . . . it seems too that three of my AR rifles have them. It just worked out that way. Recently sold a late (2007 contract) USGI carrier made by "Toolcraft". Those were often matched with later edition FN M16 rifles. That carrier had an FN bolt which was kept and used with a KIES nickel-boron carrier that is now in the primary SHTF middy AR. |

Around the beginning of the year, the same FN marked BCGs were around $120 from the same sellers on GB.....seems they are trying to profit on the hysteria before the election. |
