I'm in the market for an A2 model AR, but would prefer to spend less than $1K. What makes/models do you reccommend?
This of course is without getting a lemon AR, I'd like it to work well. |

-2nd up from the bottom and 4th down from the top. A FN M16A2 upper for $335. CHF, CL barrel, A2 FH and upper, all FN. And because Both Palmetto State Armory and Bravo Company USA are out of stock, an excellent-condition used Colt bolt. Total should be around $375 shipped.
http://www.ohioordnanceworks.com/Parts/M16_AR15Parts.cat -Because the Ohio Ordnance FN upper comes sans forward assist. $12 http://www.del-ton.com/Forward_Assist_Assembly_p/up1003.htm All on this page, Bolt Cam Pin, Firing Pin, and Firing Pin Retaining Pin. $13 http://www.del-ton.com/ar_15_bolts_carrier_s/66.htm Again, because PSA and BCM are OOS, a M16 carrier with mounted gas key. $60 (Del Ton parts should all be about $15 shipping) http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Bolt_Carrier_and_Key_p/bc1009.htm And here is a complete lower from DoubleStar via Centerfire Systems. DoubleStar's stuff is GTG and the stock isn't a cheapie piece. $230, plus let's say $20 shipping and another $25 for transfer. http://centerfiresystems.com/ARCOMLOW.aspx You should end-up with a great $750 rifle. (EDIT) forgot to add the charging handle. So add $20 to the cost. $770 total for a rifle in your hands. Only assembly you'll do that needs tools will be the forward assist, and even then just a punch and hammer. |
