Other than genuine Colt are there any aftermarket A2 stocks shipping with metal (Alu) buttplates and trapdoors?

I don't know of any with aluminum buttplates, but the DPMS have aluminum trapdoors.
Sportsman's Guide has them.

Palmetto State Armory (PSA) has one that's made in the USA that mentions a metal plunger in the door.  Not sure about the door itself though.

The butt plates have always been plastic, trapdoors vary between manufactures. Who make which I am unsure of.

I have a Colt take-off that has a plastic plate and a metal door.  Don't know of anyone that has a metal plate.  Best thing to do is either call or e-mail vendors and ask.

No metal buttplattes made that I'm aware of.

I have GI issue ones and only metal is the door assembly.  Butt plate is plastic.

For some reason I thought everything was aluminum. Thanks all for the responses.

A reasonable assumption to make.
A lot of the A2 stocks currently available do have plastic trapdoor assemblies instead of aluminum, so that is something to be careful of, if that matters to you.
It does matter to me, so I'm careful when I look for A2 stocks, that they do in fact have the metal hardware.
That's why I mentioned the DPMS at Sportsman's Guide.

I had that bookmarked, thanks again.

Any recommendations on where to find a Colt or FN buttstock?

Recently put together an AR rifle using an FN M16A2 upper having 1/7 FN barrel and matching FN bolt with marked carrier.

Picked up a complete butt stock assembly with tube, buffer and spring from a guy who was parting out a COLT built AR15A2.   All the parts were in near mint condition and fit perfectly on the DPMS lower receiver.   The door on the genuine COLT butt stock is made of plastic just like the plate itself.

Seems odd that many of the civilian commercially offered AR15A2 have metal doors while mil-spec (according to army TM) is made of plastic.

Thanks for posting that! I was considering ordering from them. I only delayed because shipping for a $20 stock is $15! Talk about an ass raping!

I have ordered stuff from Gunny's without any problem.  But it does take a while to get it, and I would not expect to be able to return it.  $20 - not a big risk.

Wouldn't monkey with it.
Too many good vendors to order from.

I dunno?

There's a genuine Colt stock on my FN M16A2 clone that was taken directly off a Colt A2 Match rifle and it has a plastic door on the butt plate.

x2. I was about to order a stock and bolt cam pin, but hesitated when I saw the shipping charges. Then I saw the link to the Better Business Bureau rating, and that sealed the decision. I'll look elsewhere....
