The time has come where I "need" an A2. Im gonna try to keep the cost down on this one. I'll most likely get a SA&A stripped lower from AIM. Maybe a Spikes since I used one on my last build.
My question is whose rifle kit should I go with? I've looked a little at Model 1 and Del-ton. Anyone have a preference on either of these or any other kits? I'm hoping to stay under or around $650ish total...not counting mags since I already have them. ETA: this rifle will serve no specific purpose other than I want one. |

I have a Del-Ton A2 upper, and have had "0" problems. No feeding problems. Even with, shhhhhhhhhhhh !!, Wolf steel case ammo.
I've heard and read that Model 1 has security problems when it comes to credit cards. But other than that I can't tell you if they're good or bad. With a lower receiver, IMHO, any mil-spec would be OK. I have Aero Precision and Spikes. The major difference I see, is the big dopey spider and the finish. Spikes is a little more glossy. Check this link. Another option to consider. http://e-sarcoinc.com/search.aspx?find=AR340 |

I picked up a very lightly used Del-Ton A2 20" upper on the EE. I love it.
Model 1 gets mixed reviews from here. People bring up the security thing... people say their stuff is junk, and people say they have their stuff and it's great, no problems, etc. I would call them and see how you feel after speaking to them on the phone before ordering. PK carries Bushmaster 20" A2 uppers (as well as other A2 uppers), and says they have them in stock. You can also get them direct from ArmaLite. Last time I looked there, they had them in stock also. Plenty of options for you. |
