Does anyone collect various A-2 Carry Handles with different manufacturer's forge marks?  I have four different Carry Handles from people who just won't use them at all.  Just curious.

Many of us here like them and use them. They usualy sell used for between $40 and $70. However they occaisonally are listed for less, as little as $30 to $35 and sell soon, or as much as $90 or $100 and are not sold....<><....:)

The square forge marks are raw forgings from Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises.

I have two of them square marked both from my Colts a 6721 HBAR carbine I got last year and my new SP6920 Sporter M4 carbine I bought three weeks ago.

My third one is my oldest which came from my older Colt 6721 I got in 2005 which have the splintered "A" (Anchor-Harvery) and letter "B" markings.

I just use them when I'm installing my rails on my AR so the top rails are lined up with the handguard top rail.

The bad thing about the Colt detachable carry handles is that the factory don't mark them so they're worth less when selling them, it's impossible to prove they came from a Colt AR.

Alpha-Romeo3:  You can tell if it is a Colt if the rear sight base lug has a letter " C " under the windage screw spring.  I have one Cerro Forge, a Cardinal Forge, a Brass Aluminum, and a RRA Carry Handle.  I assembled two of them from scratch.

I love carry handles. That is what I use for iron sites unless I am using a fixed carry handle upper.
A lot of people don't like them because they feel that they are not as reliable as other alternatives. As long as it is quality made you will have no problems with it.

gladly take them from your friends and enjoy.

Yup, detach carry handles are cool and still very much functional.

My handle is also forged by Brass Aluminum Forging as well as my DD upper receiver.

I collected albout 10 different USGI once but have sold off all but three.  Had Splintered A-1 through A-8, square forge and cardinal forge all from military surplus.  Never pulled sight apart to look for C stamp but assume they were all Colt.  Some were grey and some were black and seller was a Sgt. in the armed forces.   I personally switched to the Matech buis.  I believe those were the only forge codes I ever saw in his stash of USGI carry handles and he had hundreds of them.  Have seen a splintered A-9 from CDNN but pretty sure it was commercial and my Bushmaster rifle length had a splintered A-B on it but was mil spec.

To Cdenmark:  The numbers that follow the splintered " A " (Anchor-Harvey forge) are the numbered dyes used in the forging process.  I do not know about letters being used after letters.  But anything is possible.

The splintered A-B came off a Bushmaster and I recently sold it on the EE.  May have been a 8 that had just flattened out on the left side.  It was milspec height and I never used it as I scoped the rifle from day one.  It sure looked different from my A-8's.  Finish was all black where my others were grey and black.  My pics don't really show it.  Might try and edit one.  Still have a new splinter A-8 off a Colt I never used.  Thanks for info on the die number.  Didn't know what the number referred to.  Didn't think it was chronological.
